Abstract
This research aims to explore the effectiveness of lemon peels as a natural
alternative to commercial dishwashing liquids. Lemon peels have been reported to
possess cleaning and antibacterial properties due to their high content of citric acid,
which makes them a potential candidate for use as a natural dishwashing liquid.
However, the effectiveness of this method has not been extensively studied.
The research will employ a mixed-method approach, utilizing both quantitative
and qualitative methods to assess the effectiveness of lemon peels as a dishwashing
liquid. The quantitative method will include a series of experiments to test the
cleaning ability of lemon peels to remove food stains and bacteria from different
dishware materials. The qualitative method will involve a survey of household
consumers to gather information on their experiences and perceptions of lemon
peels as a dishwashing liquid.
The research is expected to provide important information on the
effectiveness of lemon peels as a natural and sustainable alternative to commercial
dishwashing liquids. The research will also inform the development of marketing
strategies and messaging for promoting the use of this method to consumers.
Additionally, the research will contribute to the growing body of research on the use
of natural, eco-friendly alternatives to chemical-based household cleaning products.

I. Introduction
In today's world, where sustainability and environmental consciousness are
gaining paramount importance, there is a growing demand for household products
that are not only effective but also eco-friendly. One such product that has gained
attention is lemon extract dishwashing liquid. Derived from the natural goodness of
lemons, this innovative dishwashing liquid offers a powerful cleaning experience
while minimizing the use of harsh chemicals typically found in conventional dish
soaps.
Lemon extract, derived from the citrus fruit, has long been revered for its
refreshing scent and versatile properties. The extract is obtained by cold-pressing
the lemon peel, capturing its essential oils and bioactive compounds. These
compounds, including limonene and citric acid, not only give lemon extract its
characteristic aroma but also offer various cleaning benefits. Gonzalez-Molina E., et
al. (2011).
Dishwashing liquid is one of the most important and the most commonly used
household item found in any kitchen. Dishwashing liquid is used primarily for
removing food from used dishes. Large food particles is generally scraped from the
dishes before using. ( European Commission. (2020)
Citrus limon ( Lemon ) is a natural choice when it comes to removing stains from
things such as ceramic, fabrics, and even plastics. Gonzalez-Molina E., et al.
( 2011 )

Dishwashing liqud are becoming more important product for household used, Dhillon
G.S., et al. (2013). Dishwashing liquid is designed to be a highly-foaming mixture of
surfactants that have low skin irritation and so used mainly for washing hands and
removal of food solids from dishes and utensils. It also tends to separate grease, oil,
and other food substances. Hsieh P. C., et al. (2020)
In this research, the researchers aim to explore the effectiveness of lemon
extract dishwashing liquid in comparison to conventional dish soaps. By evaluating
its cleaning power, environmental impact, user satisfaction, and long-term durability,
this study hope to shed light on the potential benefits and advantages of
incorporating lemon extract dishwashing liquid into everyday household cleaning
routines.
The researchers will conduct rigorous testing to assess the cleaning efficiency
of lemon extract dishwashing liquid across various types of dishes, including
glassware, ceramics, and stainless steel. We will compare its ability to remove tough
stains, grease, and food residues, ensuring that it meets or exceeds the performance
of conventional dish soaps.
Furthermore, this study will investigate the environmental impact of lemon
extract dishwashing liquid by analyzing its biodegradability and assessing its effect
on water quality. By measuring the levels of harmful chemicals and pollutants, we
can determine the extent to which lemon extract dishwashing liquid contributes to a
cleaner and healthier environment.
4
User satisfaction will also be a key aspect of this [Link] researchers
will gather feedback from individuals who have used lemon extract dishwashing
liquid, assessing their overall experience, fragrance preference, and any potential
skin sensitivity issues. This will help to determine the product's acceptability and
suitability for a wide range of users. Dhillon G.S., et al. (2013).
Ultimately, these findings will contribute to the growing body of knowledge
surrounding eco-friendly household products and their impact on both human health
and the environment. By highlighting the effectiveness and benefits of lemon extract
dishwashing liquid, we hope to encourage consumers to make more informed
choices and embrace sustainable alternatives in their daily lives.
As the need for eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives continues to grow,
lemon extract dishwashing liquid holds promise as a natural and effective solution.
By harnessing the power of nature, we can embark on a journey towards, Kaur R., et
al. (2017).
The overall objective of harnessing the power of nature in lemon extract
dishwashing liquid is an area of research that focuses on developing effective and
eco-friendly cleaning solutions. Lemon extract, known for its natural cleaning
properties and pleasant scent, has been used as an ingredient in dishwashing liquids
for its ability to cut through grease and remove stains. This research will address the
following questions:
5
1. What factors contribute to the effectiveness of lemon extract in dishwashing
liquid, and how can the formulation be optimized to enhance cleaning
performance while considering environmental sustainability and user
preferences?
2. What challenges or limitations exist in the current formulations of lemon
extract dishwashing liquids, and how can these be addressed to improve
overall product quality?
3. How do variations in lemon extract concentration impact the cleaning
efficiency of dishwashing liquids, and what is the optimal balance between
effectiveness and cost-effectiveness in formulating these products?
This research will attempts to prove or disprove the following hypothesis or
assumptions:
1. Conduct experiments with varying concentrations of lemon extract in
dishwashing liquid and demonstrate that higher concentrations indeed result
in better grease-cutting and stain-removing capabilities.
Conduct tests to show that dishwashing liquid with lemon extract exhibits
antibacterial properties, effectively inhibiting the growth of common household
bacteria.
3. Evaluate the environmental impact of dishwashing liquid with lemon extract,
considering factors such as biodegradability and eco-friendliness.
6
The acidity level of lemon extract in dishwashing liquid is positively correlated
with its ability to effectively remove tough stains, with higher acidity leading to
increased stain removal.
II. Methodology
Procedure
In order to make the lemon dishwashing liquid, the researchers collected all the
necessary equipment, including: a measurement cup for water and vinegar; a weigh
scale for salt; a mixing spoon; a sieve; a knife and cutting board for chopping the
lemon; a kettle for boiling the mixture; and a container to store the finished product in
a jar. The next step is to gather all the necessary components, which include baking
soda, salt, water, white vinegar, and lemon as the main ingredient. Next, the
researchers measured the ingredients and prepared the lemon. The researchers cut
one whole lemon, skin and seeds included, using a knife and chopping board.
Researchers measured out 100 grams of fine salt using a measuring scale and
added 5 grams of baking powder using a measuring scale. Next, the researchers
measure out 75 milliliters of white vinegar using a measuring cup. Finally,
researchers measure out 500 grams of water using a measuring cup.
7
Subsequently, the researchers begin blending the chopped lemon in the blender until
a chunky liquid is formed. Next, researchers add the water and salt vinegar and
blend until thoroughly mixed. Finally, researchers add the five grams of baking soda
and blend once more.
In order to sterilize and infuse tastes, the researchers' last procedure involved
placing the mixed mixture in a pot, letting it boil for 15 minutes, then removing the pot
from the heat and letting the mixture cool. The researchers then move the
dishwashing liquid with lemon extract to the appropriate container.
Data gathering
The product was easy to make. The researchers mixed 75 ml of white vinegar with 1
whole of native lemon juice, 500 ml of water,100 grams of fine salt, 5 grams of
baking soda together producing a total of 255 ml of the product. This Homemade
Lemon Dishwashing Liquid" - Slow Food shares a recipe for homemade lemon
dishwashing liquid. The recipe involves blending chopped lemons (with skins and
seeds), fine salt, white vinegar, and water. These are the following ingredients that
we use in making lemon dishwashing. The mixture is then boiled and stored in a jar
or bottle. This Slow Food recipe for homemade lemon dishwashing liquid offers an
eco-friendly alternative with natural ingredients, promoting sustainability and a
connection to locally-sourced produce.
