GETTING STARTED & OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
BELT CLIP REMOVAL/ATTACHMENT BATTERY INSTALLATION

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Do not use these walkie-talkies if they are damaged in any way
• Do not use near gas pumps or fuel storage areas
• Do not turn on or use on aircraft or in hospitals
• Operating these devices near a radio may cause interference
• Remove the batteries if devices will not be used for a long period of time
• Never mix new and used batteries
• For best results, direct the antenna upward when in use
• Clean with a damp cloth; do not use solvents or cleaning agents
• Do not modify these devices in any way
• Do not rely on these devices to contact emergency services
WALKIE-TALKIE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
ON/OFF BUTTON
Press and hold down the power button (right of LCD screen) for 3 seconds to power
the device on or off - a beep will indicate operation.
VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
Press the up and down arrows (below LCD screen) to adjust volume
up or down. Volume level is displayed on the screen.
BATTERY LEVEL
Look for the battery icon on the LCD screen to check your battery level.
The icon will flash and the device will beep when the batteries need to be
replaced or recharged.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
RECEIVE/TRANSMIT COMMUNICATION
To transmit, press and hold the TALK button while talking into the walkie-talkie at a close
range (within 5cm of your face). Release the button to finish talking -when the button is
released, your walkie-talkie can receive transmissions.
Note:
• Walkie-talkies must be set to the same channel and CTCSS code
• Release the TALK button when you’re finished talking to receive a response
HOW TO CHANGE CHANNELS
• Press the MENU button once; the current channel number will flash on the LCD screen
• Press the up and down buttons to change the channel
• Press the TALK button to confirm and return to Standby Mode
Note: If no button is pressed, the device will return to Standby Mode
CTCSS (CONTINUOUS TONE-CODED SQUELCH SYSTEM)
These walkie-talkies have an “8/20/22” channel system. This means you can always find a free
channel if someone in your vicinity is using one and you don’t want interference -or you want
to share a channel.
Your devices also have subchannels called the CTCSS. Using the CTCSS transmits one of 99 dif-
ferent low-frequency tones (67-250 Hz) along with your voice signal for identification purposes.
Note: This feature does not impact operation or quality; to disable, select code “OF” in the
menu; Press the TALK button to confirm
CHANGE THE CTCSS CODE
• Press the MENU button twice -the current CTCSS code flashes on the LCD screen
• Press the up and down buttons to change to another code
• Press the TALK button to confirm
MONITOR
You can use the Monitor feature to check for weaker signals on your current channel. Press
the MON button to start and stop channel monitoring.
Note: The device will not transmit or receive CTCSS codes during monitoring
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
VOX SELECTION
These devices are capable of voice-activated (VOX) control. This means the walkie-talkie
will transmit any sound it picks up without pressing the TALK button - as such, it is rec-
ommended that VOX Mode not be used in a noisy or windy environment.
Note:
• VOX Mode is overridden when you press the TALK button
• Press the Menu button 3 times and the current VOX setting will flash on the LCD screen
along with the VOX icon
• Press the up button to set VOX sensitivity between 1 and 3 - the higher the number, the
more sensitive the microphone
• Press the down button until you see “OF” to turn off VOX Mode
• Press the TALK button to confirm and return to Standby Mode
SCANNING FOR AN ACTIVE RADIO CHANNEL
Press the Scan button (the “Z” button) and the device will scan continuously from 1 to 22.
Once an active channel is found, scanning will stop and you can listen to any transmission.
Note: Press TALK while on an active channel to enter Standby Mode
CALL TONES
A call tone alerts others that you want to start talking. These walkie-talkies have 10 call tones.
To set the call tone:
• Press the MENU button 4 times; “CA” is displayed and current tone flashes on the LCD screen
• Press the up or down button to change the call tone
• Press the TALK button to confirm
SENDING A CALL TONE
Press the CALL button.
BUTTON-TONE ON/OFF
Your device beeps every time you press a button. To turn this beep on or off:
• Press the MENU button 5 times until a “to” is displayed on the LCD screen
• Press the up button to enable (“ON”) or the down button to disable (“OF”)
• Press the TALK button to confirm and return to Standby Mode
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
‘ROGER’ BEEP ON/OFF
Your walkie-talkie beeps every time the TALK button is released to confirm you’ve
stopped talking. To turn this beep on or off:
• Press the MENU button 6 times until a “ro” is displayed on the LCD screen
• Press the up button to enable (“ON”) or the down button to disable (“OF”)
• Press the TALK button to confirm and return to Standby Mode
BUTTON LOCK
Press and hold the MENU button for 2 seconds to activate and deactivate Button Lock Mode.
This locks all buttons except for the PTT button, CALL button and MON button, and the But-
ton Lock icon will show on the LCD screen.
Note: Buttons will still make noise (if button tone is ON), but will not function.
DISPLAY BACK-LIGHT
Pressing any button will activate the LCD back-light for S seconds.
EARPIECE CONNECTION
You may use earbuds with a 2.5mm jack with this device, although Playzoom Walkie-Talkies
are not warranted for use with off-brand equipment.
BATTERY-SAVER MODE
Battery-Saver Mode is activated after the device idles for 6 seconds. This does not limit oper-
ation and any incoming transmission or button use will activate the device.
BUILT-IN FLASHLIGHT
Press the LAMP button (left of LCD screen) to activate your flashlight.
