STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Name : Bhavana Sukka

Course opted : Masters in Public Health
University : Macquarie University (Sydney campus)

Introduction of me and my family:

I introduce myself as Bhavana Sukka born on 11th January, 1999 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. My
father [Link] Shekar Sukka is an entrepreneur in floral decorations and events management
& my mother [Link] Sukka is also an entrepreneur, takes care of our General store. I have an
elder brother [Link] Shekar Sukka, who has recently completed his MBA and is currently
seeking job opportunities. My father always strived to educate me and to make me a better person, he
is an immense support system for my family, he is an active and smartest person I have ever known.
I have grown up watching him and inspired to become a self-esteemed person, curious with
competitive nature and have a strong desire to excel in life. My parents are supporting me for my
studies & living in Australia, as they give foremost importance to education and magnificent
academic career.

My extra-curricular activities:
During my schooling, I was into activities to name as Kho-Kho, Dancing and Essay writings. In my
leisure, I would like to read books and learn innovative skills such as Painting. I have attended
workshops and seminars during my bachelors and I understood, the need for young Pharm-D
graduates to explore various fields and to improve their skills to successfully become a part in
improving health-care in the field of interest. This has changed my plans for the future and also made
me perceive that further study is the Critical Method to stand out from the crowd in this economic
oriented era.

Educational background:
I completed my secondary education with a 9.3 GPA on 15th May 2014 from St. Pius ‘X’ Girls High
School, Ramnagar, Hyderabad. I have completed Intermediate in Bi.P.C with a score of 91.2% and
received my certification on 22nd April 2016 from Sri Gayatri Junior College, Barkathpura,
Hyderabad, Telangana.

I have completed my Doctor of Pharmacy and passed out with a score of 69%, placed in pass-class
distinction on September 2022 and received provisional certificate on 24th September 2021 from
Samskruti College of Pharmacy, Hyderabad. I have taken English proficiency test IELTS on 10th
December 2022 and received overall band score of 7.0 on 23rd December [Link] that I have
begun my research on Australian Universities and finalised Macquarie University.

Why not study in India:

I have completed my Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) in India. I have done my research on many
Post-Graduate courses for Pharm-D graduates in universities across India and various other
countries. I’ve found that the variety of available postgraduate courses for Pharm-D was much wider
abroad than in India. Firstly, there is no official cadre for a Clinical Pharmacist in Telangana from the
Government. Secondly, 70% of the institutes in India depend on theoretical base teaching rather than
practical exposure, and few lack facilities, especially in health-care sector. Considering the exposure
that an international student gets having her education abroad is commendable and also helps break
her comfort zone, encourages her to face reality for diving into a multicultural environment that
teaches students practically. Since then, I had decided to explore my options overseas too.

The main factor is that educational institutes in foreign countries select the students based on the
excellence in their education and proficiency exams like IELTS/GRE/PTE scores and students
background which is very viable. And in return, the global overseas education will be a credit for me
after returning to India creating better chances for me in getting a job at reputable firms and even in
personal development.

Why not other Countries?

I have researched about four countries like Canada, USA, NZ and Australia where I found Canadian
universities concentrate more on diploma courses and offer only a few masters’ related courses and I
feel that a Masters’ degree has more recognition than a diploma program. That is why Canada was
never an option for me. I need a good GRE and TOEFL score for admission in USA. For admission
to a university, I need 75% in graduation and a good IELTS score. I dropped the USA due to the
GRE requirements. In New Zealand, most of the programs are Graduate Diploma and Postgraduate
Diploma. It is only one year in most universities and colleges. A one-year Post Graduate Diploma is
not much valid compared to two years of masters’ after coming back to India.

But as compared to all other countries, Australia has everything which an international student will
look forward to studying and living with a tranquil mind. It has been my cherished desire to pursue
graduate studies in Australia. Australia has a high standard of Education Good Research Facilities are
also available at par with other countries. I believe that international education is much more than
business. Other than the fascinating culture that draws international students to Australia, the
economy and education have been major attractions. India has got similar options but I am much
keen on global exposure. This is the motivation why I am passionate about studying in Australia.

My study in Australia will improve my global exposure and enhance my inbuilt capabilities of
innovative thinking, apt application and practical knowledge of the subject, thus increasing my
awareness and international job opportunities. I believe it has too much to offer in regards to
education, which will broaden the horizon and skills of every individual studying there. I will
definitely learn and gain more because of the international exposure.

Why Australia?
Australia is a dynamic and vibrant country with a great deal to offer students looking for
international education. There are laws that safeguard the quality of education and international
students. The education system is known for its quality of education and exposure provided in the
areas such as Science, Medicine, Public Health Management and other healthcare sectors,
Information Technology and Engineering. The Education system is carefully regulated by the
Australian government to maintain a high standard of education associated with the country.
Australia is one of the best places to live. As of March 2022, according to the World Happiness
Report, Australia was named the 11th happiest nation in the world. It is a youthful, vibrant and

teaching and research. The universities in Australia are equipped with latest technologies.
Qualifications earned in Australia are recognized by international employers and leading educational
institutions around the globe. Australia's approach to education is based on individuality and fresh
thinking. I have chosen Australia for many reasons; firstly, Australian degree is reputed worldwide
and especially in India. Secondly, the quality of living in Australia is good and the culture of
Australia is very interesting with a friendly and cordial approach towards international students just
like in my home country India.

Australia offers an educational experience that makes a real difference. It provides a unique kind of
education and a style that encourages one to be innovative, creative and think independently.
Additionally, students who have graduated in Australia are readily accepted for postgraduate study at
most of the leading international universities. Choosing Australia to study will provide me with
wonderful opportunities and experiences, not to mention exciting and progressive world-class
education programs and universities, globally renowned degrees and updated course curriculum.
Australian qualifications are opted by most employers and leading educational institutions in many
countries around the world. It has a multicultural, friendly and harmonious society. Australians value
the wealth of cultural diversity and social sophistication that international students bring to the
campuses and communities. Australia has a low crime rate and strict gun control-laws providing a
safe environment. So, I indomitably consider that it is a good investment to put a step ahead for
pursuing my higher education in Australia.

Why Maquarie University:

After much research, I found that the Western Sydney University, The University of Queensland and
Macquarie University. Western Sydney University offers “Masters in Public health” but it did not
meet my requirements of scholarship availability whereas The University of Queensland are offering
Masters in Biotechnology and Clinical Research for 2 years but this course doesn’t include Public
health management in their curriculum which am particular about.

I felt very happy & glad when I came to know that Macquarie University attains all my requirements
and it is well known & world-ranked university among all other universities. Macquarie University is
way better at providing the infrastructure that is needed for a student in the health management
program at affordable fees than the other countries. Macquarie University has standard excellence in
research departments for Australia.

Through university YouTube channels, websites, social media, and alumni, I found that the teaching
faculty are accessible and very supportive towards students. A strong reason to choose Macquarie
