Earth Before Humans
[INTRO: 0:00–0:45] [Upbeat music, animated molten Earth cooling to oceans] Hello,
BeastAndScroll fans! What was Earth like before humans? Spoiler: it was a wild, beast-filled
planet! I’m [Adam], and welcome to BeastAndScroll, where history Unwraps! Today, we’re
zooming through 4.6 billion years in 5 minutes to uncover Earth’s untold story—before we
showed up. Animals ruled, and I’ve got five epic eras to share—my lucky number!
Subscribe, hit that bell, and let’s dive into a world of monsters and marvels!
[SEGMENT 1: BIRTH OF A FIERY WORLD – 0:45–3:15] [Show molten Earth, early
oceans, microbial mats] Picture Earth 4.6 billion years ago—a glowing ball of lava,
bombarded by meteors. No air, no life, just chaos! By 4 billion years ago, oceans form, and
tiny microbes spark life in the deep. These aren’t animals yet, but they’re the seeds. Fast-
forward to 540 million years ago: the Cambrian Explosion! Oceans burst with weird creatures
—trilobites with spiky shells, Anomalocaris, a shrimp-like predator the size of a surfboard.
Imagine a sea of aliens, no land animals, just water beasts battling it out. Earth’s first zoo was
open for business!
[SEGMENT 2: AGE OF GIANT REPTILES – 3:15–5:45] [Show lush forests, dinosaurs
roaming] By 250 million years ago, Earth’s a steamy jungle. Enter the dinosaurs! After a
massive extinction wipes out 90% of life, reptiles take over. Stegosaurus munches ferns, its
plates glowing red to scare predators. T. rex, 40 feet long, chomps with jaws stronger than a
car crusher. Pterodactyls soar with 33-foot wingspans, snatching fish. But it’s not just dinos
—giant dragonflies, big as hawks, buzz through forests. Why so huge? Oxygen levels were
sky-high, letting bugs and beasts grow massive. Earth was a monster movie set!
[SEGMENT 3: RISE OF MAMMALS – 5:45–8:15] [Show asteroid impact, early mammals
scurrying] Then, 66 million years ago, an asteroid slams Earth, wiping out dinosaurs. Dust
chokes the skies, plants die, and T. rex vanishes. But tiny mammals—shrew-like, hiding in
burrows—survive. By 50 million years ago, they evolve into weird wonders: Indohyus, a
deer-like ancestor of whales, wades in rivers. Megatherium, a 20-foot sloth, roams South
America. Saber-toothed cats stalk giant mammoths. These furry pioneers rule a cooling
Earth, setting the stage for us. Mammals proved small can be mighty!
[SEGMENT 4: THE WORLD WE INHERITED – 8:15–10:45] [Show Ice Age landscapes,
early hominins] By 2 million years ago, Earth enters the Ice Age. Glaciers carve mountains,
and animals adapt. Woolly mammoths trudge through snow, their tusks like snowplows.
Giant terror birds, 10 feet tall, sprint across plains. Early hominins, our ancestors, appear,
scavenging mammoth carcasses and dodging cave lions. Earth’s climate swings—warm,
cold, warm—shaping a tough, diverse planet. From trilobites to mammoths, every beast left
clues in fossils, telling us Earth’s story. We’re just the latest guests in this wild world!
