ALOCIOUS KIPKEMBOI SAWE
My name is Alocious KIpkemboi, and I was born on 11th July 2005 in Kenya. I am the fourth born
in my family; my elder brother Elisha Kiplimo is a professional nurse at a life care hospital in
Eldoret town; Mercy Cherotich is the second born, and she is a Human Resource Specialist and
also engages in small-scale farming; Valentine Jepchirchir is our third born and is currently in
Australia pursuing Bachelor of Health Science at Charles Darwin, our last born is Abigael Chebet
sawe, and she is in the final year of her primary school education. My father, Paul Kipkorir
Muttai Sawe, is a wonderful man who ensures that all our school fees are paid through his
large-scale farming ventures of maize plantations and agribusiness. My mother, Dinah
Chepchumba, is a small-scale farmer who produces coffee and dairy products. I am applying for
a Certificate IV in Community Health Service course at Alana Kaye College in Australia.
I started my high school education in 2019 at Kabimoi Boys High School and completed it in
2022. I then enrolled for a certificate in Computer Applications in 2023.
Why did you choose to study in Australia, not your home country?
The country's dynamic multicultural society influenced my decision to study in Australia. Being
a part of a diverse community broadens viewpoints, strengthens interpersonal skills, and
promotes cultural awareness, all of which will contribute to a well-rounded educational
experience. Moreover, Australian education is of higher quality compared to that of Kenya. It
has been rated among the best countries worldwide for its Superior education performance.
Amazingly, Australia has one of the most active and developed healthcare programs and
research worldwide. Australian qualifications are more recognized by employers and leading
education institutions.
I decided not to study in Kenya because of the need for a well-rounded education that
combines theoretical understanding with practical application. Studying overseas typically
provides a curriculum that emphasizes hands-on experiences, resulting in a more
comprehensive knowledge of community health procedures. The desire to be exposed to a
multicultural society is also a significant motivator for studying abroad. Attending an
2
international university will help create a diversified learning environment to enhance my
educational experience.
Furthermore, the global recognition of Australian degrees was a key consideration. The
international recognition and acceptance of degrees acquired from Australian
universities boosted my confidence in the quality and credibility of the education I will get. This
recognition promotes more employability and mobility around the world.
Why did you choose to study at your nominated University / College?
I chose Alana Kaye College because of its long history of achievements and recognition,
demonstrating its commitment to excellence. The institution's programs offer industrial
support, flexibility, relevance to current trends, and involvement in a distinctive manner. This
combination positions me for success in a competitive job market and aligns with my academic
goals. My decision was solidified by the emphasis on serving as a foundation for further
education and job opportunities. This guarantees that students receive a comprehensive and
dynamic education beyond the classroom and provides them with practical abilities for both
short-term success and long-term professional development.
Tell us about the research you personally undertook into study options in other countries or
Australian institutions.
Notably, Australia provided ideal reasons to be the ultimate choice in pursuing different
courses. Australia is more affordable and financially Viable for international students than other
English-speaking nations like the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Canada.
While researching a country to pursue higher education, I found schools offering courses
related to Community Health Services. However, I was discouraged by the high cost of living
and high tuition fees in the UK and the USA. Australia offers a favorable environment, providing
over 2,500 hours of sunshine yearly and devoid of humidity in contrast to Canada’s and
Europe’s cold temperatures.
3
Moreover, Crime rates in the USA are comparatively more significant than in Australia, as well
as Difficult and time-consuming tests like GMAT, GRE, SAT, etc., to enter American universities
and colleges. There is also inconsistency in the immigration law of the UK, and this discourages
them. Additionally, Currency conversion played a pivotal role in my decision-making process.
Australia offered a more financially advantageous option for my studies due to its affordable
tuition fees, lower living expenses, and favorable exchange rates.
Why did you choose to study this course?
My passion to positively impact people's lives inspired my decision to pursue a Certificate in
Community Health Service course. I have always been prompted by a genuine desire to
promote the well-being of communities. Personal experiences and moments have consistently
inspired me to seek a path where I can actively engage in activities that uplift and support those
around me.
In addition, my decision to apply for this program was motivated by my commitment to social
change. Community service could be an effective catalyst for addressing societal issues, and the
prospect of contributing to positive change motivates me. I have been interested in several
societal difficulties and challenges, such as poverty, mental health, and substance abuse. I am
eager to learn how I may utilize my education and future profession to help find solutions.
Please describe the value of this course to your future. Include your career ambitions,
industry, and roles you anticipate working in when you return home. Include your expected

After completing this course, my immediate goal is to advance in my studies by continuously
learning and acquiring knowledge to enhance my skills and abilities to be relevant in the job
market. I will also actively take on Internship roles and be keen to network with other
professionals in the field for proper guidance and mentorship in my career field. My aspirations
and long-term aspirations are that acquiring the required skills in Community Services will
provide me with a foundation of the key concepts, principles, and values I need to shape my
4
career aspirations in different healthcare-related job roles, such as clinical social worker,
community outreach worker, healthcare manager, or research assistant. I anticipate being able
to work in any of these fields in Kenya after completing the course, depending on the
organization and its mission.
Regarding my future career prospects and employment, I have researched opportunities
in organizations such as AMREF, Kenyan healthcare providers like Nairobi Hospital, and
NGOs like RefuSHE. According to a world salaries survey, community health workers with
international qualifications earn a salary of Ksh. 926,000 annually
([Link] ). Moreover,
working for RefuSHE, Kenya, an NGO for refugee girls and women, a social worker's
monthly salary is ksh. 90,000.
Most significantly, the credentials will give me the information and skills to manage
health interventions better and analyze data. Furthermore, by knowing more about how
different socioeconomic factors can influence health outcomes, I will be better prepared
to address concerns about healthcare accessibility. Along with improving my current
administrative and communication skills, the certificate will help me create the type of
network required for any healthcare venture to flourish. In addition, I can leverage the
course's interdisciplinary focus by communicating with stakeholders to ensure the
highest quality services are provided. These collaborations will further strengthen my
ability to provide the best care to those I serve.
Why must you return to your home country after completing your studies?
My desire to return home after my education is very significant. My parents have constantly
offered financial and emotional assistance throughout my academic career, indicating their
unwavering support for my career goals. In exchange for their commitment and care, I will
come home, support them as they age, and help them in their large-scale farming ventures,
even in old age.
5
Furthermore, the Kenyan community is vibrant and diverse, and I am eager to give back to it by
assisting others with my knowledge and abilities. In addition, I want to use my experience as an
international student to promote the importance of education in Kenya. I am passionate about
using my degree to help people in my home nation, and I am convinced that I can help the local
economy thrive. I will be eager to apply the knowledge, experience, and skills I will gain to build
a successful career in my country. Returning to Kenya will be beneficial to both my personal and
professional lives. I can use my knowledge and ability to help my community and family while
pursuing potential financial opportunities.
I declare that the answers given above are true and correct in every detail. I understand that
