NORTH YORKSHIRE RURALS NEWS
WELCOME to the first edition of what we hope will become a quarterly newsletter.
ISSUE 1, MARCH 2012 Find us on
Following on from a successful mail-shot conducted by the branch it is obvious that support is out there for UKIP. Thank you to every one that took the time to reply, it was very gratifying to see the responses, suggestions, donations and membership renewels that we received. I am very pleased to announce in our first newsletter that to date we generated approximately a 20% feedback response and received over 300 in donations, once again many thanks. One of the major responses to the questionnaires was a requirement for updates and news, we hope that this newsletter fulfils that requirement :0) Whilst the first issue is a paper copy only, future issues will be available in email format and via Facebook, if you would be able to accept these formats, and therefore help the branch save on postage costs please drop a line to [Link]@[Link] with your preferred alternative format. In addition please feel free to send us your input for future editions! WHATS IN IT FOR YOU . . .
So what can you expect to see in your newsletter! The branch has chosen to take a pro-active approach to highlighting UKIP as a viable party and to try and avoid being associated as only an EU protest group. We have adopted the motto There is more to UKIP than the EU view. Each month we will devote a column to spotlight on policy and how UKIP would make a difference. To ensure balance however there will be a bullet point on the EU, just couple of sentences designed for maximum impact! Lastly your branch news and events!

In the budget presented earlier today, Mr. Osborne revealed cuts to higher rate income tax and an increase in the personal allowance. So in the first of our policy spotlights it seems an ideal opportunity to highlight UKIP policy on income tax and how we would all benefit. UKIP believes in merging income tax and national insurance into a flat rate income tax to greatly simplify our tax code, which currently stands at over 11,000 pages. At the last election we opted to merge 20% basic income tax with 11% national insurance to create a 31% flat tax on all earned incomes over 11,500. As a tax cut for all, with a higher threshold, it would also take the poorest paid out of income tax altogether. It would also mean abolishing the existing 40% and 50% income tax brackets, the latter actually costing the economy rather than taking in revenue. For employers, UKIP aims to abolish employers national insurance across a parliament to end the tax on jobs. This will undoubtedly boost employment and simplify the process of employing people. So what does this mean to you and me? UNDER A UKIP TAX POLICY, SOMEONE ON THE AVERAGE ANNUAL SALARY OF 27,439* WOULD BE 109 BETTER OFF EVERY MONTH. Someone earning 12,000 per year would be 95 better off every month, and someone earning 50,000 per year would be 191 better off every month. **

NEWS in brief . . . The branch is planning to attend and support Save the Friarage Children and Maternity Services and following discussion with Godfrey Bloom, our local MEP and Nathan Garbutt, Yorkshire NEC representative, are hoping that they will also attend. The branch is planning to arrange a leaflet campaign, hoping to arrange an event day in Catterick and agreed in principle the formation of a private fundraising lottery. More details to follow!

The 2012 budget set aside 50 million funding for ultra-fast broadband in 10 of the UKs largest cities. Leaving the EU would see this figure paid in just one day, with an estimated million in change!!!
