construction of the KAABAH was done by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and his
son Ismail as a house of worship to one God. Allah (the Glorified and Exalted) says
in the Quran that this was the first house that was built for humanity to worship
Allah (the Glorified and Exalted). Soon after Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him)
died, people started filling the Kaaba with idols. It was not until Prophet
Muhammad (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) defeated the idol-
worshipers that the idols inside the Kaaba were destroyed.
One of the Five Pillars of Islam requires every Muslim to perform the Hajj
pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in his or her lifetime if they are able to do so.
Multiple parts of the Hajj require pilgrims to walk seven times around the Kaaba in
a counter-clockwise direction. This circumambulation (Tawaf), is also performed by
pilgrims during Umrah.

purchase, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) exhumed the graves, cleared the shrubbery, and
started constructing Masjid al Nabawi.
Gunbad-e-Khizra, the magnificent green-coloured dome is the most distinctive
feature of Masjid al Nabawi. According to Islamic scriptures, Masjid al Nabawi’s
dome wasn’t always green. In fact, after its construction in 678 AH, the dome was
renovated several times throughout history.

Faisal Masjid</div>
<p style = " font-family:'Georgia', Arial, sans-serif ;font-size: 20px;
color:black; text-align:left;background-color:Wheat ; padding: 30px ;" >
the Faisal Mosque was the largest mosque in the world from 1986 until 1993, when
it was overtaken in size by the newly completed Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca,
Morocco. Subsequent expansions of the Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) of Mecca and
the Al-Masjid al-Nabawi (Prophet's Mosque) in Medina, Saudi Arabia, during the
1990s relegated Faisal Mosque to fourth place in terms of size.
The impetus for the mosque began in 1966 when King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz supported
the initiative of the Pakistani Government to build a national mosque in Islamabad
during an official visit to Pakistan.
In 1969, an international competition was held in which architects from 17
countries submitted 43 proposals. The winning design was that of Turkish architect
Vedat Dalokay.[3]Construction of the mosque began in 1976 by National Construction
of Pakistan.
The mosque's unusual design is a departure from the long history of South Asian
Islamic architecture, fusing contemporary lines with the more traditional look of
an Arab Bedouin's tent, with its large triangular prayer hall and four minarets.

In 2000, the marble inlay in the main prayer hall was repaired. In 2008,

rugs covering the floor, this place of worship is a gorgeous rainbow of color in
every direction, like stepping into a kaleidoscope.
Nasir al-Mulk Mosque was constructed between 1876 and 1888, during the Qajar
dynasty, which ruled Iran from 1785 to 1925. It has been dubbed the “Pink Mosque”
due to the plethora of pink-colored tiles blanketing the ceiling. The best time to

The pink-domed Putra Mosque is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive landmarks in
Putrajaya. Named after Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman
Putra Al Haj, the mosque was completed in September 1999 and can accommodate
15,000 worshippers at any one time.
The mosque is constructed with rose-tinted granite, which gives it a desert-pink
hue, with cengal woodwork of carvings on doors, windows and panels. It integrates
Arab-Islamic architectural designs combined with the skills of local craftsmanship
inspired by Muslim Persia during the Safavid period.

Wazir Khan Mosque </div>
<p style = " font-family:'Georgia', Arial, sans-serif ;font-size: 20px;
color:black; text-align:left;background-color:Wheat ; padding: 30px ;" >
The mosque was commissioned during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as
part of an ensemble of buildings that also included the nearby Shahi Hammam baths.
Construction of Wazir Khan Mosque began in 1634 C.E., and was completed in 1641.
Considered to be the most ornately decorated Mughal-era mosque, Wazir Khan Mosque
is renowned for its intricate faience tile work known as kashi-kari, as well as its
interior surfaces that are almost entirely embellished with elaborate Mughal-era
frescoes. The mosque has been under extensive restoration since 2009 under the
direction of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and the Government of Punjab, with
contributions from the governments of Germany, Norway, and the United States.
The mosque is located in the Walled City of Lahore along the southern side of
Lahore's Shahi Guzargah, or "Royal Road," which was the traditional route traversed
by Mughal nobles on their way to royal residences at the Lahore Fort. The mosque is
situated approximately 260 metres west of the Delhi Gate.

The Tilla-Kari Madrassah differs from most other Central Asian madrassahs in that
it lacks the corner lecture halls. However, it does hold a large prayer hall with
connecting rooms for lecture and worship, allowing it to act as a combination of a
congregational mosque and madrassah.
“Tilla-Kori” is translated as “decorated with gold”. Square-shaped building of the
Madrassah fills the whole area between the Ulugbek Madrassah and the Sher-Dor
Madrassah (Sherdor). The façade, faced to the square is symmetrical and consists of
the high portal and two floors of arched niches, flanked with towers. Khudjras
(cells), intended for students.
