Assignment #1
Throughout this unit we have read, watched, and learned about the lived experiences and stories of
Indigenous peoples. Your objective for this assignment is to deepen your understanding of Indigenous
perspectives and contemporary issues by engaging with Indigenous created podcasts from the list below and
reflecting critically on the content.
TASK 1: For this assignment, you will choose one (1) audio episode from the list provided:

TASK 2. Active Listening: Listen to the entire episode carefully. As you are listening, take notes on key
points/ideas, themes, and any specific details that will help you respond to the questions. Be sure to include
important quotations with timestamps to use in your in text citations.

TASK 3: In class, you will write a response for each of the following questions based on the episode you
listened to. Each response should be about 150-200 words.

a. Summary: Summarize the main topic(s) of the podcast episode. What are the key points or stories shared?

b. Perspective: How does the podcast episode reflect Indigenous perspectives or experiences? Provide 1-2
examples from the episode.
c. Personal Reflection: How did the episode challenge or change your understanding of Indigenous issues or
cultures? What new insights did you gain? Provide an example from the episode to support your response.
