GRADE SPREAD 175 SCRIPT BEHIND 175th
THE JOY HUES PITCHERS THE LENS RHYTHMIC
OF BEING NOTE
Grade 1 to 4 ✅ ✅ ------- ------ -----

Grade 5 to 8 ✅ ✅ ✅ ----- ✅
Grade 9 & 10 ------ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅
i. Find the percentage of events organised for grade 1 to 4?
⅖ x 100 % = 40 %
ii. 250 students from grade 5 to 8 are enrolled for the events offered. 10%
participate in ‘spread the joy of being’ and 20% of the remaining students
participate in the ‘175th rhythmic note’.
How many students can take part in the ‘175th rhythmic note’ event?
‘spread the joy of being’ = 10 % of 250 = 25
remaining = 225
‘175th rhythmic note’. = 20 % of 225 = 45 students
(note : each student can take part in only one event.)

b) 150 students from Grade 11 & 12 were given the responsibility to organise the
above events. Two committees were set up for the execution of the events and their
data is represented in the venn diagram below.
Committee A - Cultural
Committee B - Logistics

1
i.Draw and complete the table :

Committees number of students

logistics 80
cultural only 55
Both 20
None 15

ii. What percentage of students have not volunteered for any role ?
none = 15/150 x 100 % = 10 %
iii. What percentage of students have registered for the cultural committee only?
(round off to the nearest whole number)
cultural committee only = 55/150 x 100% = 36.67% = 37%
iv. If 20% of the students who have volunteered for both the committee are girls.
How many boys have volunteered for both?
boys who have volunteered for both = 80% of 20 = 16

Question 4 (POINTS TO BE DISCUSSED)
i. In the following figure, OA = OC and AB = CB.
Prove that: ∠AOB = 90°

5
a) △ AOB ⩭ △ COB ( SSS axiom)
∴ m∠AOB = m∠COB (△ AOB ⩭ △ COB )

m∠AOB + m∠COB = 180°

∴ 2 m∠AOB = 180°

∠AOB = 90°

ii. In the following figure, AP and BQ are equal and parallel to each other.
Prove that: AB and PQ bisect each other at point O.
△ AOP ⩭ △ QOB (AA -corr side postulate)
AP = QB (given)
∠APO = m∠BQO (AP ∥ BQ)
∠PAO = m∠OBQ (AP ∥ BQ)
∴ AO = BO
∴ PO = QO
AB and PQ bisect each other.

iii. CA and DB are equal perpendiculars to a line segment AB. Show that AB and CD
bisect each other.

OAC ⩭ △ OBD (AA - cor.S axiom)

∴ AO = BO
∴ CO = DO
∴AB and CD bisect each other.
