• SLV III: As Project Director, Dr. Abdul Kalam was instrumental in the development of India's first indigenous
Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III), which successfully injected the Rohini satellite into near-Earth orbit in July

• This achievement catapulted India into an exclusive club of space-exploring nations.
• PSLV: He was in charge of the evolution of ISRO’s launch vehicle programme, specifically the PSLV (Polar
Satellite Launch Vehicle) configuration.
