1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION OF THE ORGANISATION STUDY


Organization studies (also called organization science or organizational studies) are
the interdisciplinary academic field interested in a collective activity, and how it relates to
organization, organizing, and management. It is "the examination of how individuals
construct organizational structures, processes, and practices and how these, in turn, shape
social relations and create institutions that ultimately influences people". The main aim of the
organization study is familiarization and in-depth knowledge of the functioning of various
departments. An organization study is an essential factor for understanding how a
management works practically. It is important opportunity available to a management trainee.
This study analyses the functioning of the various departments in an organization. This study
helps in finding out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of an organization.
The organization study also involves the study of the rules and regulations prevailing in an
organization. Organization study helps a management trainee to understand to what extent
management theory matches with actual practice. Organizational studies deal with the
analysis of how people prepare organizational structures, practices, and processes and how all
these create social relations and institutions which have an impact on people. Organizational
studies include different fields which deal with the different spheres of the organizations.
Organizational change is the base of the study. Historical trends and theories are also
included in the study to show the relation between the traditional, present and future of the
organizational structures, practices, and processes.
The main objective of organizational studies is to provide a complete understanding
of the behavior, culture, ecology, psychology, theories, and learnings of the organizations to
the managers, researchers, and students. It is necessary for the managers to have a clear and
brief understanding of organizational studies to manage the organizations’ employees, the
internal and external factors and as a whole the overall performance of the organization in an
effective and efficient manner.

1.1.1 PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATIONAL STUDY


The main objective of organizational studies is to provide a complete understanding
of the Behavior, Culture, Ecology, Psychology, Theories, and Learnings of the organizations
to the managers, researchers, and students.

 It helps to understand and predict organizational life.
 It also helps to understand the nature and activities of people in an organization
1.2 INDUSTRY PROFILE
The Managing Partner of the concern Mr.K.Mohamed Basheer is one of the pioneer in
fishnet making in South India. Initially he started his first unit at South Kerala in the year
1985 in the name and style of M/s.Sabiya Nets. Afterwards he shifted his manufacturing
location to Thammathukonam, Nagercoil – 629 004 from the year 1995. Tmt. Fouzia
Basheer is the other partner. Kassim Nets is offering various types of nylon fishing nets
such as monofilament fish nets, multifilament fishnet in different colors, sizes and
diameters as required by the fishnet traders. Our concern is equipped with Amita Fishnet
making machines with sophisticated stretching machine for finishing the fishnets. Our
products are subject to strict quality control, good knot strength, durability and accurate
weight. Our products are equal or one step ahead to the products of leading fishnet
manufacturers in South India. During the year 2006 our concern has supplied about 35000
kgs of fishnets to The Salvation Army Comprehensive Tsunami Project. During the year
2012 the concern has supplied fishnets to the Fisheries Department, Government of Tamil
Nadu. The concern also supplied fishnets to World Vision of India. The concern also

CHAPTER II
2 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

2.1 INTRODUCTION
Research methodology generally refers to the systematic procedures carriedout in any
project or research study. It gives a clear picture of suitable clarification and sequence of the
different stages of the study, as to arrive a proper manifestation of the objective, scope,
limitation of the study.

2.2 TITLE

An organizational study at KASSIM NETS MANUFACTURERS AND


EXPORTERS OF ALL KINDS OF FISHING NETS, Nagercoil.

2.3 OBJECTIVES

 To understand the organizational structure of KASSIM NETS.


 To study the functions of various departments in KASSIM NETS.
 To study the various products and services offered by the company
 To perform a SWOT analysis of the organization.

2.4 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

 The study focuses on understanding the macro view of the organizational


structure and working of the various departments in it.
 It also aims at understanding the information flow within the sub units and
how they cumulatively add up to the organizational goals.
 Organizational study provides an opportunity to the management trainees
to have practical knowledge about the organizational activities in a
company conducting a study here.
 We get wide range of knowledge about the organizational structure,
functions of various department and officials.
 Finally, we put forward suggestions for the improvement of the company.

2.5 COLLECTION OF DATA

2.5.1 PRIMARY DATA

Primary data is collected through direct observation and interviews with employees at various
departments. Direct observation is used to understand the production process.

2.5.2 SECONDARY DATA

Secondary data is obtained from internal records, company manuals especially quality
manuals, company website and other magazine and newspapers.

2.6 PERIOD OF THE STUDY

The study was carried out for a period of one month 10.07.2024 to 10.08.2024

2.7 RESEARCH DESIGN

The design of the research project popularly known as the “research design”. A research
design is the arrangement of conditions for collections and analysis of data in a manner that
aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with economy in procedure.

2.8 LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

 An in-depth study was not possible because the time limit was the main constraints.

 Since KASSIM NETS company, access to some important information was


restricted. This made some difficulties during the time of analysis.

 The findings need not be conclusive but only indicative.

 Financial constraints were one of the limitations

Human resource is a term used to describe the individuals who makes up
the workforce of an organisation, although it is also applied in labour economics. In the
organization, it looks all the working people are well experienced. In the factory, especially
in the packing are, mostly the ladies are getting the major part of working. The Human
resources department is the division of a business responsible for finding, recruiting,
screening, and training job applicants. HR departments also handle employee compensation,
benefits, and terminations.

audiences. Marketing is the most important part of the business activity. A marketing
department is a division within a business that helps to promote its brand, products
and services.

 Mr. Prabhu is holding the chief position in finance Department. Here finance
manager deals with the collection of day to day activity as the raw material,
overheads, and wages. They will analyses these items and allocate the
management according to their requirements.
 He is maintaining the company profit and loss account ant the balance sheet of the
yearly stock, ledger, bills payments. The goods are delivered through credit
policy.
 The finance department is like a life blood of every organization. All the activities
have to be performed by using the funds only. For those activities, this department
only allocates the funds to each and every department

MANUFACTURERS for the financial year ending on 31 March, 2023.

This involves preparing and managing the company's budgets, ensuring that

ensuring that there is sufficient cash on hand to meet its obligations, and arranging for
financing as needed.
