COLONEL (DR.) SUSAN O. MORAN


Colonel Susan Moran is the Command Surgeon, Headquarters Pacific Air
Forces (PACAF), Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. As the senior
medical advisor to the Commander, Pacific Air Forces, Colonel Moran is
responsible for nine medical groups, 3,897 personnel and a budget of $2.9
billion. Her team supports three Numbered Air Forces, patient movement
across the Pacific and oversees medical contingency planning, medical
OPLAN support, tri-service/international medical cooperative engagement
activities. She also serves as the JTF-Support Forces Antarctica Surgeon.

Colonel Moran entered the Air Force in 1995 after earning her medical
degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr Moran is board
certified pediatrician and physician executive with over 25 years of clinical
experience serving in CONUS and OCONUS clinics. Prior to her current
assignment to PACAF, Col Moran served as the Command Surgeon for the
SOUTHCOM in Miami, Florida. In this role, Col Moran supported the
SOUTHCOM Commander by establishing the strategies and priorities for
US military medical activities in the region. This encompassed
strengthening partner nations, countering threats, and guaranteeing the
safety of DOD service members and civilians within Latin America and the Caribbean. Expanding global
health engagements, her team focused on humanitarian assistance, emergency preparedness, disaster
response, biosurveillance and biosecurity. She and her husband, Sean, have three daughters.
