The Department of Law, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies,
GGSIP University, conducted a Session on Filing of Copyright & Trademark on
25 May, 2023, as part of the formerly conducted Two-Day Workshop on Filing
of Patent, Design, Copyright, and Trademark. The session aimed to provide
valuable insights and guidance on the intricacies of filing copyrights and
trademarks, particularly within the digital landscape.
The event began with a warm greeting and sincere salutations to the
distinguished dignitaries, attendees, legal fraternities, and students. Ms.
Kavleen Kaur Khurana, on behalf of the Department of Law, MAIMS,
welcomed everyone to the session. She highlighted the importance of
safeguarding and enforcing copyrights and trademarks in the digital age,
setting the tone for the day's discussions.
The event saw the esteemed presence of Mr. Ravi Chauhan, a Senior
Advocate specializing in Copyright & Trademark Filing, who was invited to
share his expertise. The faculty members, including Dr. Praveen Kumar
Gupta, Head, Department of Law, MAIMS, and other Heads of Departments,
faculty members, and students were also present.
The session commenced with the felicitation of Mr. Ravi Chauhan by Dr.
Simran Kaur, Ms. Akanksha Gupta, and Dr. Nisha Dhanraj Dewani, Faculty
Coordinators at MAIMS IPR Center, who presented him with a sapling and a
memento as a token of appreciation.
Dr. Praveen Kumar Gupta then delivered the welcome address, emphasizing
the Department of Law's commitment to enhancing education and fostering
societal improvement through innovative pedagogical approaches. His
speech was well-received, and the audience showed their appreciation with a
round of applause.
Mr. Ravi Chauhan, the keynote speaker, took the stage next. With 16 years
of expertise in Intellectual Property Rights, he shared his wealth of
knowledge and experience. His background includes a Bachelor of Laws
degree from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, an LL.M in IPR, an MBA
in Total Quality Management, a Post Graduation in Environment Laws, and a
Master of Science in Information Technology. He is registered as both a
Trademark Agent and a Patent Agent by the Government of India and has
filed over 10,000 trademarks throughout his career. His address provided
profound legal insights and practical guidance on filing copyrights and
trademarks.
Following his speech, the session was opened for queries and doubts.
Attendees actively participated, posing questions that were diligently
addressed by Mr. Ravi Chauhan, fostering an interactive environment.
As the session drew to a close, Dr. Nisha Dhanraj Dewani, Faculty
Coordinator, MAIMS IPR Center, presented the vote of thanks. She
highlighted the importance of protecting intellectual property rights not just
for individual creators but for society as a whole, emphasizing the role of IPR
in encouraging innovation and creativity.
Before dispersal, Mr. Ravi Chauhan presented certificates to the actively
involved attendees, acknowledging their participation and engagement.
The event concluded with a rendition of the national anthem, marking the
end of a successful and enriching session. The IPR Workshop on Filing of
Copyright & Trademark provided invaluable knowledge and fostered a
deeper understanding of the significance of intellectual property rights in
today's digital world.
