INTRODUCTION

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5.

It reminds us how precious our Earth is and how our actions impact it.

This year's theme is “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

It's a global call to reduce plastic waste and protect nature.

As students and future leaders, it's time we become Earth’s protectors.

WHAT IS PLASTIC POLLUTION?

Plastic pollution means the collection of

plastic waste that harms our land, rivers,
oceans, animals, and even us!

🔹 400+ million tons of plastic are

produced every year
🔹 50% of it is single-use (used once and
thrown)
🔹 Only 9% is recycled
🔹 Plastics take hundreds of years to break
down
WHY IT MATTERS

⚠️ Marine animals like turtles and whales die after eating plastic
⚠️ Microplastics enter our drinking water and food
⚠️ Burning plastic pollutes the air with dangerous smoke
⚠️ Plastic is made from fossil fuels – harming the climate
HOW YOU CAN HELP

✅ Say NO to plastic bags and straws

✅ Use cloth bags and steel lunchboxes
✅ Carry your own water bottle
✅ Avoid plastic packaging when shopping
✅ Learn to recycle properly
Every small habit can make a big difference!
