INPLACE ANALYSIS GUIDE

1. Introduction

Inplace analysis evaluates the structural integrity of fixed offshore structures under operational and

extreme environmental loads. This document provides a framework for performing inplace analysis.

2. Objectives

- Verify structural capacity under operating and survival conditions.

- Check code compliance (e.g., ULS, ALS, FLS).

3. Inputs Required

- Structural geometry and material properties.

- Environmental data: waves, wind, current.

- Loading scenarios: dead load, live load, equipment, thermal, etc.

4. Load Combinations

- Based on DNVGL-RP-C203, API RP 2A, or ISO 19902.

- Include accidental loads (boat impact, dropped objects) if applicable.

5. Analysis Methodology

- Linear static and dynamic analysis.

- P-Delta effects and non-linearities for slender structures.

- Modal and spectral analysis for dynamic response.

6. Checks Performed

- Utilization ratios for members and joints.

- Fatigue damage calculation (FLS).

- Push-over for collapse analysis (ALS).

7. Software Tools

- SACS, SESAM, USFOS, Abaqus, or ANSYS.

8. Documentation

- Assumptions and inputs

- Analysis results and utilization ratios

- Compliance summary

9. Conclusion

Inplace analysis ensures structural safety and serviceability under all expected load conditions

during the structure's design life.
