Bible story
A long time ago, in Egypt, there was a baby named Moses. Moses was born when life was very
hard for his people, the Hebrews. The king of Egypt, called Pharaoh, was not kind to them.
Moses' mother loved him very much. She was scared because Pharaoh had made an evil rule
about all newborn Hebrew boys in the land. So, to keep Moses safe, she made a plan.
She weaved a basket and made it waterproof. She placed baby Moses gently inside it. She took
the basket to the river and hid it among the tall reeds at the water's edge.
Moses' sister, Miriam, stood nearby to watch over him. She wanted to make sure he was safe.
Soon, the daughter of Pharaoh came to the river. She found the basket among the reeds and saw
the baby inside. She felt sorry for the little baby Moses.
Miriam bravely approached Pharaoh's daughter and asked if she needed a Hebrew woman to
nurse the baby. Pharaoh's daughter agreed, and Miriam quickly brought Moses' own mother.
Pharaoh's daughter decided to keep the baby and named him Moses.
Moses' mother was able to care for him until he grew older. Then he went to live in Pharaoh's
palace.
Baby Moses was safe. God had a special plan for him, just like He has a plan for each one of us.
And just like He watched over Moses, He watches over all His children.

Art Appreciation Guide
Collage is a fun and creave art form where you get to play with different materials like paper, fabric, and even
leaves to make a special picture. Today, we're going to learn all about how to make a collage and create our
own scene of Baby Moses in a basket on the river.
Artwork Introducon:
Start by showing your child some interesng collages which are made by arsts who used all sorts of things to
make their art. You can find pictures in books or online.
Explain that in collage, you can use different bits and pieces, like bits of coloured paper, scraps of fabric, or
even pictures from magazines, and glue them together to make a new picture.
Observaon:
Textures: Have a look at the different collages and see what you can spot. Are there smooth bits, rough bits, or
even fluffy bits?
Colours and Paerns: Check out all the colours and paerns in the collages. How do these make the collage
look happy, sad, excing, or calm?
Discussion:
Feelings in the Picture: Talk about how the collages make you feel. Do they tell a story? What do you think the
story is?
Why Choose That?: Why do you think the arst picked those parcular pieces for their collage? How do they
help tell the story or make the picture look prey?
Arsc Techniques:
Discover how arsts put their collages together. They think about where to put each piece and how to layer
them to make the picture look just right.
Learn about how important it is to think about where each piece goes in your collage. This is called
'composion' and it can change how your collage looks.
Create:
Make your own collage of Baby Moses in his basket on the river. Gather
different papers, fabrics, and other fun materials.
Think about the story of Baby Moses as you choose your materials and
where to put them. How can you use your pieces to show the river, the
basket, and maybe even the reeds along the riverbank?
Conclusion:
Have a look at your collage. You've just told the story of Baby Moses with
your art!

Hands-on Activities
Sensory: River Sensory Tray
(Prepositions)
Preparation: Create a sensory tray representing a
river. Use a large container and fill it with water,
blue food colouring (optional), pebbles, plastic plants
to mimic reeds, and a small basket. If available,
include toy figures of a baby and a princess to
represent Moses and Pharaoh's daughter.
Exploration: Allow your child to play with the sensory
tray, encouraging them to put Moses in the basket,
move the basket through the 'river', hide it among
the 'reeds', and recreate the story of Baby Moses
being found.
Close: Discuss the story of Baby Moses as your child
engages with the sensory tray.
Language: Preposition Game -
'Where is Moses?'
Preparation: Use a toy basket and a small toy to
represent Moses. Create cards with prepositions
like 'in', 'on', 'under', 'beside', 'between'.
Exploration: Place 'Moses' in different positions
relative to the basket and use the preposition cards
to describe his location. For example, 'Moses is in
the basket', 'Moses is beside the basket'.
Close: This game will help your child learn
prepositions in a fun and interactive way, while also
reinforcing their understanding of the story of
Baby Moses.

Hands-on Activities
Practical Life: Riverbank (beach) Clean-up
Preparation: Plan a visit to a local riverbank or pond, equipped
with gloves, tools and bags for collecting any litter you might
find.
Exploration: While cleaning up, talk about the importance of
keeping natural water sources clean, not only for people but
also for the wildlife that depends on these habitats.
Close: Discuss how keeping our environment clean is a way of
caring for God's creation, just as Moses was cared for and
protected.
Practical Life: River Safety
Preparation: Choose a safe and calm area near a stream, or
even a pond. Ensure the selected location is suitable for young
children and they are supervised at all times.
Exploration: Discuss the importance of staying safe near
water. Teach them to always be with an adult, to not go too
close to the edge, and to avoid throwing objects or disturbing
wildlife.
Discussion: Talk about how water bodies like rivers can be
both beautiful and dangerous.
Close: Emphasize the importance of respecting nature and
following safety rules to enjoy the beauty of rivers and
streams safely. This activity combines practical life skills with
an appreciation of nature.
These hands-on activities are designed to engage multiple senses and learning styles. They offer
opportunities for the child to explore, observe, and develop as they learn. It's important to follow the
child's pace and interest and extend the activities as appropriate based on their engagement and
curiosity.
