V. RATIONALE

The State recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-building and thus,
promotes and protects their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being,
inculcates in them patriotism, nationalism and other desirable values, and encourages
their involvement in public and civic affairs.

The State shall give priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture,
and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress, and promote
total human liberation and development.

With these tenets in the constitution, the Sangguniang Kabataan has proposed to
conduct the Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament as one of the activities for the
Annual Barangay Cultural Celebration.

VI. OBJECTIVES :

1. To develop and promote meaningful participation, active citizenship, and


sustainable development.

2. To foster self-discipline, teamwork and excellence for the development of the


youth as a whole.

3. To provide a more progressive role of the youth in the barangay.

4. To empower the youth and to keep away the youth towards drug and alcohol
addiction, vices and criminalities; and

5. To develop leadership skills and sense of responsibility among youth.
