3. a. Calculate the wavelength of the radio waves with a frequency of 1240 kHz.
b. Calculate the frequency of the light emitted by a hydrogen atom during a transition of
its electron from n=6 to n=4 principle energy level.
(Rydberg constant, RH = 2.18 x 10-18 J, Planck’s constant, h = 6.63 x 10-34 J.s, speed of
light, c = 3.00 x 108 m/s).

4. Calculate the energy of a photon that has a wavelength of 534 nm.

(Planck’s constant, h = 6.63 x 10-34 J.s, speed of light, c = 3.00 x 108 m/s)

5. An electron jumps from n=2 to n=5 state of an atom.

(RH = Rydberg constant = 2.18 x 10-18 J, h = Planck’s constant = 6.63 x 10-34 J.s, c = Speed of light =
3.00 x 108 ms-1)

b. Calculate the wavelength (in nm).
c. Calculate the frequency of the wavelength.

6. Atom S has an atomic number of 16 and mass number of 32. Write the electronic configuration
using spdf notation and draw the orbital diagram (box illustration) for atom S.
