Iago in Shakespeare s Othello Essay
Iago in Othello

In William Shakespeare s tragic drama Othello we see a morally depraved character, perhaps a very
mentally sick individual, named Iago. His personality and development during the play is the subject
of this essay.

In Shakespeare s Four Giants Blanche Coles comments on the mental illness that appears to afflict
the despicable Iago:

When such old time critics as H. N. Hudson, who wrote nearly a hundred years ago, saw that Iago
was not acting from revenge, one is more than surprised to find modern critics, who have had the
advantage of the progress that has been made in the study of abnormal psychology, accepting Iago
for anything but what he is, and what Shakespeare intended him to be a psychopathic ... Show more

While he and Desdemona and Emilia are lounging about at the port in Cyprus awaiting the arrival
of the Moor s ship, Desdemona tries to analyze how his mind and feelings work, for he seems to
be habitually critical of his wife. She concludes that he is a slanderer and that he is full of old fond
paradoxes to make fools laugh in th alehouse.

His clever machinations cause grief for every character who has continued contact with him. He
deceives Roderigo about the affections of Desdemona: Desdemona is directly in love with him
[Cassio]. He deceptively lures Cassio into drunkenness where he is vulnerable to taunts and thus
loses his officership. He further lures him into Desdemona s presence so that Othello can find him
there and be more suspicious: Was not that Cassio parted from my wife? . Iago misinforms
Montano regarding Cassio ( And tis great pity that the noble Moor / Should hazard such a place
as his own second / With one of an ingraft infirmity. ) Iago uses Emilia to pass the kerchief, which
so often you did bid me steal, to him rather than to its owner. He manipulates the Moor into
incorrect views about Desdemona, about Iago himself ( Iago is most honest. ), about Cassio s
relationship with Desdemona, etc. Iago even diverts suspicion of the ambush against Cassio against
his prostitute friend Bianca. In cold blood he eventually murders his gift giver, Roderigo, so that the
wealthy playboy can t discover that Iago has been

Introduction and Confirmation of Briefing

We should aim to obtain a certain amount of market share after our communications plan is
implemented.

Obtain 10% of the market share by year 3

Strategy Target Audience

After analysis, it has been decided that the target audience will be very large but will include
different types of customers for specific communications. Most of the audience that the
communications will appeal to will already have set up a bank account or have taken out a
mortgage. Therefore, it has been decided that rather than creating a better value image for Williams
and Glyn s Bank, it is better to communicate to customers who are looking for a trustworthy bank.

1 Demographics

Age
Age of target audience has been considered carefully because if media advertisement is to be most
effective, it must target age ranges depending on where and when those advertisements will be seen.
There are 2 types of banking for individual customers: Personal banking and Private banking.

Personal banking has products such as the current account and this will attract a larger age range,
for example students as well as people from the ages of 23 55. Students are aged between 18 22 and
this account is only suitable for students at university. They offer interest free overdrafts that help
students to
Why I Should Be A Teacher
I want to be a teacher to continue to serve. I have served twenty years as officer in the United
States Army and I want to continue to serve others in a different capacity. Through my time in
service and later as member of the civilian work force I have seen the struggles of workers and
employers as they struggle to find sustainable matches. One of the answers to this struggle a is
better prepared work force. However, there are segments of our country that have been systematically
left out, and I wantto address that.

I grew up in Seattle during the de segregation, and it was normal for me to be the only black kid in
my class. As society around me came to grips with the change in the city, I had to go to school. I
could wait for programs and understanding to take hold and remove the old ways. I was labeled
one of those kids , a disruptive child in the class, until at the behest of my parents and school
administrators, I was tested. The test show I was not challenged by the normal material which lead to
the behavior and soon I was challenged.

However, my story doesn t end there. I still had to face the challenges that our current
disadvantage students face and there was a time where my future was in question. However, by
the grace of a few dedicated teachers, I was able to overcome my obstacles and find some success
in the classroom, because of that I want to pay it forward to the next generation. Because of the
efforts of so many, I have gone on to earn my
Archetypal Criticism of Blood Diamond
Through the movie Blood Diamond you can see many tragic events happening. There is loss for
some people and gain for others. The movie takes place during the time of the civil war in Sierra
Leone in 1999 (Synopsis for Blood Diamond). The movie portrays the events that transpired
between the government soldiers and rebel forces. (Synopsis for Blood Diamond). As the Movie
opens Solomon Vandy is taken away from his family by RUF (the Revolutionary United Front).
Among other Solomon is set to work to find diamonds that will later be sold for a profit that
Solomon does not get to keep. Solomon hides the diamond inside the ground where Captain
Poison sees him and demands that Solomon hand it over. While this is transpiring, the group gets
attacked and Captain Poison gets sent to prison with Solomon before he can get his hands on the
Diamond (Synopsis of Blood Diamond). The next main character to be introduced is Danny
Archer who is imprisoned for smuggling diamonds into Liberia. Danny gets Solomon released
from prison and the two make a deal that Solomon will help Danny find the diamond on the
condition that Solomon gets his family back. The two set out on their journey and come across a
journalist, Maddy Bowen who agrees to help Solomon on his journey to find his family. During this
time it becomes clear to Maddy that Danny is only using Solomon to find the diamond and is
planning to steal it and she decides to not help Danny anymore (Synopsis of Blood Diamond). As the

The Year Reason For A New Super Factory For Electric Cars
The next reason that AFVs haven t gained popularity is because many people are afraid of their
longevity, refueling, fuel prices, and status. Many people think that driving AFVs will cause them to
been seen differently by their peers (2). A company named Tesla Motors is working hard to change
all of this.
Tesla Motors is a electric car company that specializes in cutting edge technologies and creating new
jobs. Right now, Tesla is in the process of making a new super factory for electric cars in the US that
will require over 6,500 jobs. This new factory and search for effective AFVs is why Tesla s CEO
Elon Musk expects there to be over 500,000 Tesla vehicles on the roads by 2020 (4). This optimistic
CEO believes this because Tesla is creating stylish new electric cars that can go zero to sixty in
under four seconds, has a top speed of 125 mph, and can go over 220 miles per charge. With a
price tag at $69,900, this company is beginning to make cars that are approaching reasonable prices
for consumers (5).
With Tesla getting closer to making AFVs that are affordable and reasonable vehicles for consumers,
a huge problem that exists is that electricity companies release another 37 percent of the carbon
dioxide emissions into our atmosphere (9). So even if we convert to electric vehicles, we will still
be emitting just as much if not more carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. What would a solution to
that be?
How about solar panels? Even better, how about solar panels that are
Compare And Contrast Socrates And Socrates
Most of what we know about Socrates comes from three sources writings of two of his students
(Plato and Xenophon) and plays of his contemporary Aristophanes. The most comprehensive
accounts come from Plato who is seen as the best disciple but the writings are mostly believed to be
Plato s views projected on Socrateswho is shown as a wise teacher. It is believed that early Plato
writings depict Socrates as he actually was because he always proclaims ignorance in these texts.
In later writings, Socrates beings to offer theories of knowledge which are believed to be Plato s
contributions and projections. One of Plato s important works is The Apology in which we see
Socrates interacting with people in Greece, and is in the form of drama/dialogue.... Show more

Sophists are travelling teachers who go from one place to the other, mostly teaching people about
rhetoric and public speaking. In terms of politics, this art of rhetoric was really important at the time.
Clearly, there is a difference in the method of Socrates and the Sophists.

The goal of the Sophists, in terms teachers who charge for imparting knowledge, is to win debates.
In contrast, Socrates does not charge anything is not looking to win anything, he is just after the
truth. In fact, Socrates believes that it is horrible that the Sophists charge money. Another
contrasting and interesting point is that the Sophists claim knowledge that they will impart for
money while Socrates claims to know nothing.
The contrast between the Sophists and Socrates show us the difference between debate and
deliberation. The goal of the debate is to win. The goal of deliberation is to come to the truth. In
deliberation, the person is open to the idea of others and to giving up his beliefs. This is embodied
in the Socratic Method because it is fundamentally an open process. Philosophy is after knowledge
which gives us truth while Socrates believed that the Sophists were all about opinion with the
