Erikson s Life Span Theory
Going along with this, Erikson s Life Span Theory presents a lot of ideas that I agree with when it
comes to raising children. Erikson believes that there are eight stages where an individual will
face a crisis. The crisis infants will face is trust or mistrust of their caregiver. I believe this goes
back to nurture, because if you show your child that you are there for them they should develop
trust in you rather than mistrust. The crisis they face during toddlerhood is autonomy or shame and
doubt. This stage is where they begin to develop a sense of self and want to start doing things more
on their own. When beginning to raise my infant, I hope they display personality similarities to
fearless, energetic children. The description of... Show more content on [Link] ...
So I believe I will certain restrictions when it comes to their media use at this age. According to our
books, a good parent for preschooler needs to display affection, nurturance, guidance and discipline,
and interaction with the child. In order to actually be a good parent, co parenting must be effective. I
want to be involved in my child s life, and during their preschool years is of extreme importance to
remember they are watching your every mood, so remaining a positive influence is detrimental.
During pre teens years, I believe that parenting becomes even more difficult. For instance, during
this period your child is most likely going through changes and trying to figure out who they are.
With this in mind, I feel like it is important to keep an open communication line open with your
child especially during this age so they feel comfortable enough to come and discuss worries and
problems they may be facing. Media use starts becoming extremely important during this time, so
I would feel the need to set up certain regulations and make sure they are enforced. I would not
allow my child to have a smart phone during this time period either. I had to wait until I was
thirteen, and I think this is the perfect age. I do not think I would mind if they had a Facebook and
Instagram account at this age. However, I would make it a requirement that I was able to have
access to their accounts if I felt the need to check it out.
Finally, once your child reaches adolescents the
Personal Statement On Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility is holding you accountable for all your actions and decisions. Being
personally responsible means you take ownership of what you do in and with your life. This
means from the time you wake up until you go to bed at night, your life is your responsibility and
yours alone. Your values, morals, and beliefs are all contributing factors in how you view being
personally responsible. If you have been raised and taught to believe that you should consider your
actions at all times, then responsibilitybecomes second nature to you . For some it may be a little
more difficult to grasp this concept. What we need to remember is that personal responsibility is
important in every aspect of life . In collegeone has to take personal responsibility very seriously. I
began my college education in my early thirties. I had been out of school for quite some time and
knew that I faced a real challenge. I had to purpose in my mindthat I was going to do whatever it
took to reach my academic goals. Starting out I faced several disadvantages , from lack of
financial aid, to self doubt. I had to take charge of what was my dream and find a way to make it
happen. I went to the college after obtaining my GED and just laid it all out on the line. Once I
received my first class schedule I felt I was on my way. That very first class night I had an eye
opening moment. I realized that this was going to take a lot of hard work and determination. I found
out quickly that not everyone
Cyber Bullying in Schools
Twenty percent of high school students admit to being a victim and/or participating in cyberbullying
( Cyberbullying ). This form of bullying that takes place on the Internet, is beginning to become a
major problem in our society. Cyber bullying must be terminated in order to prevent teenage
depression, fights breaking out in schools, and adolescences growing up to become criminals.
Depression in teenagers is a major issue in the world around us. According to the article

Students suffering might not be able to focus on their schoolwork when all they can think about
is the person who is bullying them and/or what the bully has said. They could be fearful of how
bad the bully makes them feel or how much they just want to avoid the bully. But sadness and
depression could easily lead to anger and anger can easily lead to conflict. According to Yalda
Uhls, Most studies have found that the majority of victims of cyber bullying know the perpetrator,
with many bullies being peers from school. If the victim of cyberbullying is attending the same
school as the perpetrator, then there is always a risk of a fight breaking out between the two. No one
is safe when it comes to cyberbullying. Not only are children being hurt emotionally, but they are
being hurt physically too.
There have been many cases of teenage cyber bullies growing up to be real criminals. Children
who are surrounded by Internet tormentors are not always safe since delinquency and violence
have been associated with cyber bullying many times before ( Cyberbullying ). Some cyber
bullies get so used to bullying others as a child, that they quickly become accustomed to breaking
the law in other ways. Even on school grounds, children must keep their guard up as Cyberbullying
has also been linked to possession of weapons on school grounds ( Cyberbullying ). As crazy as it
sounds, it has happened many times before. The

Background

The case of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka is one of the most profound cases in Canada. Paul
Bernardo is known as a Canadian serial killer and rapist, specifically in the southern Ontario area.
He came from a home of abuse and neglect. Despite his childhood, he graduated from University of
Toronto in the Scarborough area with a commerce and economics degree. This proved that Paul was
an intelligent intellectual who was seen as the average in society. In October of 1987, Paul met
Karla Homolka after recently breaking up with his former girlfriend. At this point in his life he
became the Scarborough rapist who is widely known today. ... Show more content on [Link]

Within their marriage Karla developed an obsession with pleasing Paul such as fulfilling all of
Paul s sexual and sadistic desires. Due to Karla s obsession with satisfying Paul, she was aware of
and went as far as being involved with the rapes and murders that Paul conducted. The first incident
that Karla participated in, involved her younger sister Tammy Homolka. Paul and Karla drugged
and raped Tammy, during this time she, unfortunately suffocated on her own vomit. All of these
actions originated because Paul had a fetish with virgins, Karla was not a virgin when she met Paul
and therefore he convinced her to let him have sexual encounters with her sister who was a virgin.
From then on Karla was shown to have taken part in many of Paul s erroneous sexual activity

Hiroshima to Maui. As the eldest son, Hajiro renounced schooling in order to better help his

cents an hour. Hahiro joined the army not long after Pearl Harbor was bombed. In March 1943,
Hajiro joined the all Nisei populated 442nd Battalion. While in the army, Hajiro repeatedly
exposed himself to enemy gunfire and ambushed an 18 men patrol unit with a comrade. He also
single handedly destroyed two German machine gun emplacements before suffering a gunshot to
his arm. In repercussion, his arm was partially paralyzed but Hajiro became recognized for his
incredible bravery and dedication. Thus on June 21, 2000 President Bill Clinton awarded Hajiro the
The Fool In Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
The Fool in Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is more intelligent than most of the other characters in
the play. When talking to Olivia, and attempting to make her laugh, he turns her words against her.
As she demands his removal, he says, Do you not hear fellows, take the lady away (Page 29).
Though she carries power over him, the fools wit is more powerful than hers. Olivia s disposition
leads the foolto wonder why she is mourning. Once Olivia mentions the death of her brother, the
Fool bluntly states that his soul is in hell. Olivia responds with her belief that his soul is, instead, in
heaven. The Fool, because of his intellect, knew she would reply with her answer; thus proving her
mourning to be fruitless.

Obesity Is A Chronic Condition Of Excess Stored Body Fat
While America is screaming in terror from a handful of Ebola cases within the borders, few
Americans have yet to bat an eye at the disease that has overtaken more than a third of the country. In
1980, roughly thirteen percent of the American population suffered from the malady, but by 2008,
more than thirty four percent of the country were found fighting for their lives against this
disease(AMA). What is this frightening bug? It s not a virus; it is obesity.
In the simplest terms, obesity is a chronic condition of excess stored body fat (Balantine). Such a
minor problem hardly warrants the need for worry; surely a few pounds in excess and snug fitting
jeans are not enough to cause nation wide apprehension. However, Dr. Tansneem Bhatia, medical
director and founder, the Atlanta Center for Holistic and Integrative Medicine, goes on to describe
that similarly to depression, alcoholism, or anxiety, there are several medical patterns including
hormone imbalances, neurotransmitter deficiencies, and nutritional exhaustion which contribute to
the disease of obesity (Rossi). Although the severity of more than one in three Americans suffering
from obesity is significant and the health complications are notable, is it enough or even acceptable
to medically define obesity as a disease? Doctors from coast to coast insist the term can be justified.
For instance, Dr. Pam M. Peeke, assistant clinical professor of Medicine, University of Maryland,
straightforwardly maintains that obesity
Fyodor Dostoyevsky Research Paper
Literary authors can write many different types of novels. Many life experiences and obstacles
influence what the author includes in his or her novel and it can also affect how the author writes it.
Early childhood, education, and development impact the variety of works that writers create. Fyodor
Dostoyevsky is a Russian author, among the many other authors, whose life experiences greatly
impacted his novelCrime and Punishment.
Fyodor Dostoyevsky was born on October 30, 1821 in Moscow, Russia. His parents were very
different from each other; his mother was very kind and showed Dostoyevsky her love
unconditionally, while his father was very strict and stern with him. Dostoyevsky later inserted this
tension into his major works. ( The Brothers Karamazov 1). Dostoyevsky s father had pushed him
into a life of military. He was driven by his father to become a student at the Academy of Military
Engineering in St. Petersburg. He quickly figured out that he was better suited in a life of literature.
He and his ... Show more content on [Link] ...
The camp itself was very horrid; it contained stench and filth. During his time at the camp,
Dostoyevsky began to change his values. He believed that suffering was the only way that a man
s soul could be purified and that it atoned for sin. He also experienced his first epileptic seizers
during the camp. He resumed his literary career after he left the Siberian prison and soon published
his first masterpiece, Crime and Punishment. He was later viewed universally to be one of the best
writers in Russian history (Harcourt 2).
Like many other authors, Dostoyevsky could not have been able to write his books as well as he
did without his own experiences and lessons to guide him. An author s own experience is a
significant factor into how an author can write his or her novel. Without the author s experience, the
novel would be empty and it would not contain a certain value that novels should
