Navodaya Waiting List 2025: One more chance for selection

Updated on April 11th, 2025 - 04:35 AM by Garima Sihag

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) conducts entrance exams for admission into classes 6 and 9. After the NVS results are
announced, students who score below the cutoff marks are placed on a waiting list. The Navodaya waiting list is for students
who narrowly missed the cutoff marks. If seats are vacated due to students who were selected but did not join or left the
school, these seats are offered to students on the waiting list.

NVS will issue only two waitlists to fill vacancies created by provisionally selected candidates who decline admission or fail to
submit required documents. The NVS 2025-26 admissions process will conclude by December 31, 2025. However, NVS
reserves the right to modify this timeline if necessary due to administrative reasons.

The NVS releases the waiting list a few months after the initial Navodaya Class 6 results and 9th class NVS results are
announced. Students will be able to check the NVS waiting list on the official website ([Link]). If the candidate's
name is on the Navodaya waiting list and a seat becomes available, they will be contacted by the respective Navodaya
Vidyalaya. The Navodaya admission process will then be completed based on the availability of seats and categories
(General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.).

Reason for Waiting List Release

Students on the waiting list will be offered admission if seats become vacant due to qualified candidates declining
admission, students withdrawing their applications, or students leaving the school. Seat allocation from the Navoadaya
school waiting list will be strictly based on merit (marks obtained) and category.
NVS waiting lists are used only when a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) has not filled its allotted student strength of either
40 or 80 students. In such cases of under-enrollment, the JNV reports the vacant positions to its Regional Office (RO). The RO
then provides the names of eligible students from the waiting list to fill the available seats.

Last year, for the JNVST Class VI admissions, a total of 2,500,887 students were registered, comprising 1,291,709 boys and
1,209,178 girls. Of those registered, 1,851,425 students appeared for the exam (960,651 boys and 890,774 girls). Ultimately,
48,480 students were selected, with 28,947 boys and 19,533 girls making the final selection list.

Where can I check the NVS waiting list?

The waiting list for NVS 6th and Navodaya Vidyalaya Class 9 admissions is published after the initial admission round
concludes. Students on this list are offered admission based on their merit ranking, as vacancies become available.
Candidates can check their NVS waiting list status on the official website. Also, selected students from the waiting list will be
contacted directly by the respective Navodaya Vidyalaya.

How to Check the Navodaya Waiting List 2025?

To check the status of the waiting list, the candidate will need their roll number and date of birth. The NVS website will
provide instructions on how to access the waiting list. Students can also follow the given steps to check the JNVST waiting list
online.

1. Go to the official Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti website: [Link].

2. Find the "Latest News & Updates" section.

3. Click on the link related to the "Waiting List for Class 6th & 9th"

4. Enter the candidates' roll number and date of birth, as printed on their JNVST admit card, in the required fields.

5. Click the "Submit" button.

6. The Navodaya Selection List will be displayed.

7. Review the list carefully and print it for the candidates' records if necessary.

Is there any reservation on the NVS waiting list?

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) follows a reservation policy for admissions, including for students on the waiting list.
This ensures representation for various categories. When seats become available from the waiting list, the same reservation
policy is applied. This means that if a seat opens up in a specific category (e.g., SC), the first student on the waiting list from
that category will be offered the seat.

Rural Area Students: At least 75% of the seats are reserved for students from rural areas.

SC/ST Categories: Reservations are provided for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in proportion
to their population in the district, but not less than the national average.

OBC Category: 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC) - Non-Creamy Layer students.

Girls: 1/3 of the seats are reserved for girls students.

Persons with Disabilities: 3% of seats are reserved for children with disabilities (Orthopedically Handicapped, Hearing
Impaired, and Visually Handicapped).
