PHYSICS (20 MARKS)
Do any one out of these, as instructed below:
1. Select any 5 gadgets from your home (Example: Microwave oven, washing machine etc.).
Do a small research on their invention, working and principle. - Group 1 (Roll No 1-12)
2. Pick up any 5 sport activities like football, cricket, kabaddi (try to involve sports of different
varieties), and explain the physics involved in them. (Hint: work on motion, friction and
energy conversions of each of them) - Group 2 (Roll No 13-24)
3. Select any 10 electrical devices in your home. Find out the power rating on them. Check for
how many hours each of them are used in a day. Calculate the energy consumption of each of
them, in a day. Use relation, Energy consumed = Power rated x time.
Calculate total energy consumption due to them in a month. Also calculate the electricity bill
due to the energy consumption, calculated above. Use relation, Total cost = energy consumed
(in KWh) x rate
Suggest your mom some ways to reduce energy consumption and save energy. Compare your
data with your friend's data. - Group 3 (Roll No 25-36)
4. Do a small research on any 5 discoveries in the field of physics. Find out the interesting stories
and the people behind them. Example: Discovery of AC current. - Group 4 (Roll No 37-last)

You need to cover that long note book (Register) with brown paper.
Section A
I. Explain the following:-
Any three Java features.
Class, Object, Abstraction, Encapsulation, Inheritance, Polymorphism.
Data types (Primitive and Non-primitive), Type Casting
All variations of loop statement (for, while and do-while) and also mention their
different output.
Mathematical Methods (sqrt(), random(), round(), ceil(), floor() ) and Boolean
functions of Scanner class.
II. Write the following as Java expressions:
√
√
√
III. Give the output of the following: ( Need to mention Steps & reasons)
System.out.println(“D” + 10 + 20 + “E” + 2 + 2);
System.out.println( 34.75 / 0.25 * 10 + 28.50 % 4);
int a = 20, b = 40 , c = 50, x; x = c * a-- +(a%++b) – (b * --c) % b;
What is output of following program code?
char a = „x‟ ; int b = 2 ; int c = 4; char d = „y‟ ;
System.out.println( a+d );
System.out.println( b+c );
System.out.println( a+b );
System.out.println( c+d );
int x = 2 , y = 5 , a = 0;
a = x;
x = y;
y = a;
System.out.println(“x =” +x + “y =”+y);
IV. What will be the output of the following code (working and reason compulsory)
int y;
for( y = 1; y<=10; y+=2)
System.out.print(y + “ “);
System.out.println(“\n”+ y * 10);
[7]
x = 1; y = 1;
if(n>0)
{
x = x+1;
y = y – 1;
}
What will be value of x and y, if n assumes a value
1. 1
2. 0 ?
int a = -8;
do
{
System.out.println(a);
a++;
}while(a<0);
Section – B
V. Write the programs in Java of the following (compulsory to write documentation
& Variable Description of each program)
Using the switch – case statement, write a menu driven program for the
following:
1. To find and display the sum of the series given below:
S = x1 – x2 + x3 – x4 + x5 ……… - x20
2. To display the following pattern:
2 22 222 2222 22222 222222
Write a program to accept an integer and print whether the integer is a special
number or not.
If the sum of the factorial of each digit of a number is same as the original
number, then the number is special.
Example: 145 is a special number, because 1! +4! + 5! = 1 + 24 + 120 = 145.
The symbol ! means factorial of a number which is product of all integers from
1 to that number ( 4! = 1* 2 * 3 * 4 = 24)
In a school election three candidates are contesting. They have been allotted
three different symbols like $ , & , #. There are 1252 voters in the school. Write
a program to find:
1. Number of valid and invalid voters.
2. Percentage of valid votes received by each candidate.
Write a program to compute and print the sum of even integers and product of
odd integers from the list of integers input by the user. The process of input
numbers terminates when 0(zero) is entered.
Write a program to input units of electricity used and print the amount payable
to the electricity department using the bill slabs given below:
Units of electricity consumed Rate per unit
<= 200 units Fixed Rs 400.00
Next 300 units Rs. 4.00 per unit
Next 500 units Rs. 5.00 per unit
Thereafter Rs. 6.00 per unit
