- I celebrate my birthday with my family. It is in ………(on the ……st / nd /rd/ th of May / June /….)
I have a party, I invite my friends and relatives (my grandparents, my uncles, my aunts and my cousins). My
mom prepared a delicious meal and she made a chocolate cake. I got some presents, such as books/ a
mobile phone/ some clothes/ perfume ….. Everybody wished me a happy birthday and I blow the
candles, then we have the meal and the cake.
- I usually celebrate my name day with my friends. Either I organise a small party for them or we go to a
coffee shop/ a bar / a disco ….
- Christmas is the most important family festival for me. At Xmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
We celebrate Christmas Eve on the 24th and Christmas Days on the 25th and 26th of December.
AT Christmas we decorate a Christmas tree with glass balls, candles, electric lights, and Xmas bonbons
and put the presents under the tree.. The family is together on Holy Night. We put our presents under the
tree, wish Merry Christmas and have a delicious meal. We eat fish soup, stuffed cabbage and turkey
with potatoes and salad, Then we go to the local church for the midnight service.
- New Year’s Eve I have a party with my friends. We say goodbye to the old year, and we welcome the
new one. At the party we always have lots of fun, listen to music, dance and have some snacks. At
midnight people usually drink champagne, and wish happy new year to each other.
People don’t eat chicken and fish because they take our fortune away.
- Easter is mostly a religious holiday in spring when Christians remember the death / crucifixion and
resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is in spring, in March or April.
The family is together and we eat special Easter food, for example ham and eggs.
[Link] tradition do we have on Easter Monday?
In Hungary there is an old tradition on Easter Monday when the men and young boys visit the girls and
sprinkle them with water or [Link] women and girls give them painted eggs or chocolate eggs,
bunnies and some money. In Great Britain parents hide chocolate Easter eggs in the garden and the children
have to find them.
[Link] do you invite on different occasions?
- For my name day I invite my friends, for my birthday I invite my grandparents. At Christmas and
Easter the family is together. New Year’s Eve I always spend with my friends.
7. What presents do you get/prepare/give on different occasions?
- On Mothers’ Day I always give my mom flowers and some chocolate. I give a book for my father.
8. Which family festival do you enjoy most? Why?
- Christmas is that I like most because it is a very nice and peaceful holiday. The family is together, nobody
rushes, nobody is nervous. All the house is decorated. It is the most beautiful festival for me.
