Overview of Bioterrorism Agents

Bioterrorism agents are microorganisms or toxins that can cause death and disease for terrorist purposes, potentially modified to enhance their virulence and resistance. They are classified into risk categories, with high-risk viral agents including smallpox and viral hemorrhagic fevers, and high-risk bacteria including anthrax, botulism, plague, and tularemia. Understanding these agents is crucial for preparedness and response to bioterrorism threats.
