1. NOTICE WRITING
What is Notice Writing? A notice is a formal piece of communication used to
convey information to a large group, usually displayed publicly.
Format:
Name of Institution / Organization
NOTICE (centered)
Date (on left side)
Heading / Title
Body (Content)
Signature, Name & Designation
Rules:
Be brief and to the point.
Use formal language.
Mention important details: What, Where, When, Who, Whom to
contact.
Word limit: 50 words (usually).
Sample Notice: St. Mary’s School NOTICE 18 June 2025 Inter-school Debate
Competition Students of classes 11 and 12 are invited to participate in the
Inter-school Debate Competition to be held in the school auditorium on 25
June 2025 at 10 AM. Interested students can give their names to Mr. Verma

2. ARTICLE WRITING
What is Article Writing? An article is a written composition on a topic,
expressing personal opinions and providing information.
Format:
Title
Byline (Author’s Name)
Introduction
Body (Main Content with facts & opinions)
Conclusion (Suggestions/ending remarks)
Rules:
Write a catchy title.
Keep it interesting and informative.
Use paragraphs for each point.
Use formal or semi-formal tone.
Sample Article: Save Water, Save Life By Mohini Singh Water is essential for
all forms of life. Yet, we waste it every day. Water scarcity is becoming a
serious issue in many parts of the world. Small steps like fixing leaking taps,
harvesting rainwater, and spreading awareness can make a big difference.
Let us join hands to conserve water and secure our future.
3. REPORT WRITING
What is Report Writing? A report presents information about an event,
investigation, or situation in an organized manner.
Format:
Heading (Title of Report)
Byline (Reporter’s Name)
Date (sometimes included in heading)
Place
Introduction (What happened)
Details (When, Where, How, Why)
Conclusion (Outcome/Future action)
Rules:
Write in past tense.
Use passive voice often.
Keep it factual.
Be precise.
Sample Report: Annual Sports Day Celebrated at St. Mary’s School By Mohini
Singh St. Mary’s School, 16 June 2025: The Annual Sports Day was held with
great enthusiasm. Students participated in various events like races, long
jump, and football. The Chief Guest, Mr. Arora, distributed prizes. The event
ended with a vote of thanks by the Principal. It was a memorable day for
everyone.
4. LETTER WRITING (FORMAL LETTER)
