CALCULATION SHEET AND SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

Media Filters

1. Multimedia Filters, pressure type, Carbon steel with NSF lining material or FRP

• The filter media shall consist of silica sand and anthracite. Silica sand shall have an
effective size of 0.40 - 0.55 mm, a uniformity coefficient of less than or equal to 1.6
and a specific gravity of 2.55. The sand media bed depth shall be 800mm.
• Anthracite shall have an effective size of 0.6 - 0.8 mm, a uniformity coefficient of less
than or equal to 1.7 and a specific gravity of 1.6. The anthracite media bed depth shall
be 400mm.
• The filter media shall be free of clay, dust, and micaceous and organic matter. The
filter media shall be supported on a gravel layer of hard, rounded stones with an
average specific gravity of not less than 2.65.
• Filter is supplied with automatic valves actuated electrically
• Filter Tank shall be ASME or European PED standards labeled.
• Another option such as non-hydrous silicon dioxide media could be used as per
engineer approval.

The media filter has been selected based on the filter feed pump flow rate will be 18.5 M3/
Hr. as mentioned in the equipment schedule.
