Richard Rogers Research Paper

Richard Rogers was born June 28, 1902 in Long Island, New York. His father was a successful
physician and his mother was an amateur musician. In Roger s childhood, he heard music most
everyday and was regularly taken to the theatre. When Roger s was six he could play the piano by ear. He
enjoyed listening to small operas, which are also known as operettas. Later, Rogers was inspired by
Jerome Kern s musicals.
Rogers attended secondary schools in New York. When he was fourteen he had already written two
popular songs. In 1919 he entered into Columbia University, but before that he met Lorenz Hart who
he spent the next 24 years of his career with. Their first published song was Any Old Place with You. But,
in 1943 Hart died and was more successful than ever before working with Oscar Hammerstein II. Rogers
later died on December 30, 1979. Rogers died at the age of 77.
Oscar Hammerstein II was born July 12, ,1895 in New York, New York. Oscar s familywas a great
theatrical family. His father was an opera promoter and his uncle was a well known producer. Oscar

After college, they both went their own way until Lorenz Hart died. Rogers had interest in doing a play
with Hammerstein and he agreed to doing the play with Roger s. From there they had great success.

The Discovery Of Penicillin During World War II
In 1928, after the careless mistake of forgetting to clean his dishes, Alexander Fleming discovered
penicillin. The scientific community still celebrates his discovery since it was a major breakthrough in
science, especially in the antibiotics and fermentation field. Although his discovery changed various
scientific fields and it opened the doors for research in areas not studied or considered relevant before, the
actual usefulness of penicillinwas truly reached until the large scale production of penicillin was achieved.
Before its manufacturing penicillin was considered for researching purposes, but after its manufacturing
during World War II, it truly became helpful for humanity because it could finally start performing within
its antibiotic spectrum. Although it is true that the discovery of penicillin was attributed to Alexander
Fleming, the response of the rest of the scientific community was crucial in order to achieve the large
scale production of penicillin. After the incalculable loss of life during World War II, the scientific
community was urged to unite and work together for the development of the large scale production of
penicillin. Faced with the challenge of producing a sufficient amount of penicillin in order to start
shipping it as an antibiotic, scientists from all over the world started working on feasible fermentation
methods to make their set goal a reality. The first attempt started with Norman Heatley, an Oxford
biochemist.
Heatley believed that

The Power Of Independent Governance
Topic
A primary element in statehood is the quality of independent governance of its intrastate state and
international duties from any external powers without which would render it a client state. The second
limb of independent governance can largely be gauged by the degree of power a state has to converse
with the international community and assert itself as an independent personality subservient to no other
nation.
Both the executive and legislative external affairs powers have evolved in lock step with one another
and they should be viewed alongside each other. The external affairs power began with a narrow scope in
regard to treaties with Australia as subservient to Britain on the international stage and there onwards has
increased ... Show more content on [Link] ...
From this the Original scope of the external affairs power was narrow and the element of the
aforementioned power lay within the hands of the empire; that being the ability to enter into treaties or
avoid entering into them independently.

(1906)
Six years after federation, Sir Isaac Isaacs then Attorney General advised the Prime Minister on the
aforesaid section with the observation that an express legislative power as to treaties would probably have
enabled the Parliament to provide for the making of treaties by the Commonwealth without being
expressly sanctioned by the Imperial Parliament of the Crown. At that time the Imperial Government
could conclude treaties for the whole Empire. Nevertheless, he concluded that despite the removal of the
reference to treaties in section 51(xxix) of the Constitution, the external affairs power still gave the
Commonwealth Parliament the power to make such provision as is necessary to enable the obligation to
be fulfilled . Although this was not in a judgement it was significant enough to intimate that the External
affairs power was slowly being interpreted more liberally wherefrom the powers in regards to
implementing treaties was largely derived.

(1911 1939) Political changes

In the 1911 colonial conference, Sir Edward Grey, on behalf of the UK Government, assured the empire

The Impact Of Technology On The Accounting Industry
In today s society, people cannot imagine life without technology. Technology has made life easier and has
enabled individuals to do extraordinary things that were not possible in the past. As of right now my
future major and career is in the accounting industry. Accounting has gone through many changes
throughout the years. There are changes with technology, new regulations and standards, and the
uncertainty of the economic market that may affect the accounting industry. The advancements of
technology have been one of the biggest changes around the world, and it is also affecting the accounting
world today. Futuretechnologies will change the way accountants do their job, just like it has in the
previous years. As the years pass, we will advance in the electronic field and the accounting industry will
continue to advance with us. Modern technology is taking over traditional ways in accounting and is
changing it for the better. New technologies and regulations will affect the future of accounting in a
positive way by making the job easier with less room for error and by giving more communication
opportunities and better time management.
In the past, the entries were done manually and just one simple mistake could mean hours of
recalculations and going through checking the money again. Now, after the computer programs, there is a
lower margin for error and the mistakes are easier to find. Manual accounting was a laborious process that
required accountants to spend time

A Life of a Hero The United States in the 1900 s was a very tough place for an orphan. Children were
left homeless and had no hope to survive. They had to dream in boxes on the street in Hell s live. They
dreamt of a warm bed and a nice meal waiting on the table. They dreamed of having money that would
give them power to enjoy everything else in life. The children at least wanted to get out of Hell s live
to live on Mott Street. Hell s live is beneath the poor and Mott Street is the next best thing. Most
children all had intuitive to start a little job from boot blacking to selling newspapers. Some were also
thieves. They all had to find some way to fulfill their stomachs. There were children who had dreams of
something more. Some wanted to... Show more content on [Link] ...
Written by Horatio Alger, in the late 1800 s, hit upon the most important topic in America at the time;
the American Dream. The American Dream, being the idea that everyone, from all walks of life, can
come to America and be successful, in any way in which they want to, so long as they have hard work
and determination to do so. Ragged Dick for filling this Dream by making his way up in society, and
eventually making a wealthy man of himself. The first was that fact that no one should give up.
Through all of the hardships Dick was put through, including the loss of his parents, the misfortune of
receiving no education, and the fact that he lived on his own for most of his life. Another important
topic that was covered, was that hard work pays off. In Dick s case, he worked hard at a boot black,
treated people with respect, and finally caught a break from his hard work, by receiving a high paying
job. The kind of people that would enjoy this story would be people of all ages. No matter what age, or
what level of education one may be, this story teaches lessons that anyone can benefit from. It doesn t
matter if a twelve year old boy, or a fifty year old woman picked up Ragged Dick, because they will both
benefit from what the story speaks about. I think it is a heroic act to set up dream and tend to achieve
it, because there is a fine line between a dreamer and a successful person. A dreamer is a person that
day dreams without the aim of act towards it. But a heroic person like what we have in the novel of
Ragged Dick is that he worked so hard and started from a very simple job a shoe shiner to finding a job to
earning more money helping himself to become a successful

The Pros And Cons Of Time Travel
Ever since the release of Doctor Who in 2005, the Tardis has been very iconic throughout the sci fi
universe. Then the question came to mind, is Time Travel really possible? Apart from the fact that
Police Boxes are all over the streets of London. However, with technology advancing each and every
year and theories being developed and created, it has helped to envisage time travel. Research suggests
that, although hard to believe, Time Travel may be possible. Theories such as Einstein s Theory of
Special Relativity, Tipler Cylinders, Black Holes, Cosmic Strings and Time Machines just like the Tardis.
They all suggest one thing; Time Travel may be possible. But, how do they?

Einstein says that time travel to the future is possible only if a person or something was able to achieve
the speed of light. Realistically, this is physically impossible to do, as the person or object has to have an
infinite mass and length of 0. Despite the doubts, two scientists have extended the Einstein s equations and

Time Machines. Time Machines just like the one you see in Doctor Who, Back to the Future, and more
recently, Project Almanac. Although, very easy to understand, constructing time machines would be a
rather difficult task to accomplish. In order for a time machine to exist, a form of exotic matter will
need to be discovered. Exotic matters that possess peculiar characteristics such as a negative energy
density or mass. If a matter of this kind were to be discovered, a time machine would bend the space
time continuum backwards until it forms a loop otherwise known as a closed time like curve or CTC for
short. Which, essentially means that the time machine follows a path until it reaches a point in space and
time that it began at. This means that time travel is possible only towards the future after the machine has
existed. These are only a few of the many theories that have been discovered up to

Performative Acts And Gender Constitution Summary
When it comes to Butler and based on her essay that we studied Performative Acts and Gender
Constitution: An Essay in Phenomenology and Feminist Theory where she introduced the term of gender
performativity and based it on a feminist phenomenological outlook and suggested that this is based on
experiences that we live. Butler accepts the notion of a distinction between sex, as biological facticity, and
gender, as the cultural interpretation or signification of that facticity . (Butler, Judith (1988). Performative
