Introductory Questions:
When you hear the term ‘SOCIAL” what comes into your mind?
In social science, "social" means studying how people live together and interact in groups. It
looks at:
How people behave: What people do and how they act with others.
Groups and institutions: Things like family, schools, and governments that shape our lives.
Culture: The shared values and practices of different groups.
Changes in society: How and why societies change over time
How about the word, “SCIENCE” what is it to you?
In social science, "science" means using careful and organized methods to study how people
behave and interact in society. This involves:
Collecting Data: Gathering information through surveys, observations, or experiments.
Analyzing Results: Looking at the data to understand patterns and relationships.
Developing Theories: Creating ideas to explain how and why people act the way they do.
So when we put the terms social and science together, what concept do we come up with?
This is the study of how people live together, behave, and interact in societies. It uses

People’s behavior: How people act and interact.
Groups and organizations: Things like families and schools.
Culture: Shared values and practices.

you are given.
