Star-Delta Motor Starting Guide

The document outlines the automatic star-delta starting method for three-phase squirrel-cage motors, detailing the use of timers for sequential switching between star and delta connections. It includes diagrams for both power and control circuits, as well as instructions for setting up the system with pneumatic and electronic timers. Additionally, it discusses the operation of the motor in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, emphasizing the importance of interlock contacts and sequence switching.

In this second part, we will focus on the automatic star-delta starting.
using a timer.

The three-phase motor is put into service by an automatic star-delta connection.

first the mains contactor. A delayed action relay (pneumatic or electronic)
then switch the motor to a delta connection with a delay time

Montage 1: Star-delta starting with pneumatic timer

In this assembly, the relay used is a pneumatic relay with a delayed action.

possible locks?

Achievement:

1. Place the equipment and make the connections according to the wiring diagram.
2. Change the relay delay and commission for multiple values.
3. Which contacts form the neutral point in a star connection?

Montage 2: Star-delta starting with electronic timer

In this setup, the relay used is a time-delay electronic relay.

Achievement:

Repeat the same steps as for assembly 1
