General Instructions:

1. All questions are compulsory.

2. Draw neat and labeled diagrams wherever necessary.

3. Use SI units only.

4. Show all steps in numerical problems.

Section A – Very Short Answer Questions (1 Mark × 10 = 10 Marks)

1. Define motion.

2. What is the SI unit of velocity?

3. A car covers 100 m in 20 seconds. What is its average speed?

8. Name the physical quantity measured by the area under velocity-time

graph.
9. Write one difference between speed and velocity.

10. What type of motion is shown by the second hand of a clock?

Section B – Short Answer Questions-I (2 Marks × 10 = 20 Marks)

11. A body travels 10 m in 2 s and 20 m in next 3 s. What is the average

speed?

12. Draw a velocity-time graph for an object moving with uniform

acceleration.

13. A train accelerates uniformly from 20 m/s to 40 m/s in 5 s. Find

acceleration,**?**##২২

14. Explain the difference between scalar and vector quantities with one
example each.

15. Can an object be at rest and in motion at the same time? Explain with an
example.

16. Give two examples of non-uniform motion.

17. Write the equations of motion. Name each physical quantity in them.

18. A car moves with a velocity of 30 km/h for 1/2 hour and 60 km/h for next
1/2 hour. What is average speed?

19. A body is thrown vertically upward with a velocity of 20 m/s. How much
time will it take to reach the highest point?

20. What is the difference between displacement and distance?

Section C – Short Answer Questions-II (3 Marks × 10 = 30 Marks)

21. Derive the first equation of motion using graphical method.

22. A particle travels along a straight line, first 30 m in 2 seconds and next
60 m in 3 seconds. Find the average speed.

23. A car starts from rest and accelerates at 4 m/s². Find the distance
covered in 5 seconds.

24. Explain the three types of motion with examples.

25. What do you understand by retardation? Give two examples.

26. An object moves with uniform acceleration. The velocity after 5 seconds
is 25 m/s. If initial velocity is 5 m/s, find the acceleration and distance
covered.
