1.0 Purposes.
1.1 To explain the responsibility and procedure for pest control.

2.0 Scope.
2.1 This procedure applies to pest management activities at the factory area.

3.0 Definitions.

3.1 Pest: means any arthropod, mammal, bird or reptile, which is undesirable because of
its habit or presence;

3.2 Pesticides: include insecticides, rodenticides and repellents, but excludes herbicides.

5.1 A formalized preventive pest control program shall be maintained in the Company. The pest
control program may be undertaken by trained in-house personnel or be provided by an
outside pest control contractor. This procedure outline the requirements of the program to
reduce the potential for product contamination from pest activity or use of materials and/or
procedures designed to control pest activity. Pest control activities shall at all time be
conducted. In addition, specific programs and procedure include:
5.1.1 Pesticide applications made within a plant or on the grounds of a plant will be
undertaken by licensed trained in-house employee or pest control contractor.

5.1.2 The company shall:


5.1.2.1 Maintain a file of sample labels for each pesticide used and shall
maintain pesticide usage records as well as records on maintenance of
the safety and protective equipment used.
5.1.2.2 Maintain and enforce this procedure for the application of all pesticides.
5.1.2.3 Maintain accurate records of application of pesticides.

5.1.3 Facilities serviced by contacted licensed pest control company shall maintain the
following:
5.1.3.1 A contract describing the specific services to be rendered.
5.1.3.2 Sample labels for all pesticides used. Sample labels shall be kept on
file for the time specified by regulatory codes.
5.1.3.3 Accurate and complete service records describing current levels of pest
activity and recommendations for additional efforts needed to correct
conditions allowing a potential for pest activity.
i. Accurate documentation of all pesticide applications, including
rodenticides, made in or around the factory. Documentation
shall be maintained
ii. Materials applied
iii. Target organisms
iv. Specific area where pesticide was applied
v. Date and time treated
vi. Methods used.

5.2 The company shall establish and implement effective programs for the elimination of pest
activity. The effectiveness of the programs will be measured by the lack of observation of pest
activity and evidence. Specific procedures include but not limited to

5.2.1 The most efficient method of eliminating the pest in the company premises is to
follow proper house keeping and hygiene.
5.2.2 The use of synthetic products for pest management is mainly restricted and when
necessary will be applied in their most breeding areas like building foundations.
5.2.3 Internal measures shall comply with government regulations. Unless prohibited by
regulatory requirements, internal control programs shall consist of use of
mechanical traps, extended trigger traps but should not include feeding stations of
any kind.
5.2.4 Maps or schematics showing the locations of the rodent control devices shall be
maintained and kept current
5.2.5 Rodent burrows, rodent runs, and any conditions attracting rodents or other pests
both inside and outside the kitchen shall be eliminated.
5.2.6 Birds shall be controlled by exclusion: netting, screening and mechanical traps.
5.2.7 All equipment used for pesticide application shall be properly maintained in
serviceable condition.

5.3 Pest monitoring devices and appropriate integrated pest management strategies shall be
properly used to provide ongoing monitoring for pest activity and to design an effective control
program to eliminate pests and the potential for pest activity.
