1.
Find the Topic Sentence (Opening Sentence)
• This sentence introduces the main idea.
• It does not contain connectors like however, therefore, but, also (these
indicate continuation).
• It usually does not contain pronouns like he, she, it, they, this, that (these
refer back to something mentioned earlier).
Example:
❌ However, climate change affects all regions. (Not the rst sentence)
✅ Climate change has become a major global concern in recent years. (Good
topic sentence)
2. Identify the Logical Sequence
Use the PEEL technique:
• Point – General statement (Main idea)
• Explanation – Expands on the point
• Example – Provides proof, data, or illustration
• Linking sentence – Leads to the next idea or conclusion
Example:
1⃣ Technology has signi cantly transformed education. (Topic sentence)
2⃣ It has enabled students to access information more easily through online
resources. (Explanation)
3⃣ For example, e-learning platforms like Coursera and Udemy offer free
courses globally. (Example)
4⃣ As a result, traditional classroom learning is being supplemented by digital
education. (Conclusion/Next step)
3. Identify Transitions and Linkers
Some sentences depend on others for context. Pay attention to these words:
(A) Contrast Words
• However, Nevertheless, On the other hand, Although, Despite, Yet
• These indicate a contrast and come after the sentence they contradict.
(B) Cause & Effect Words
fi
fi
• Therefore, Thus, As a result, Consequently, Hence, Due to
• These introduce results or conclusions, so they follow the cause.
(C) Sequencing Words
• First, Second, Next, Then, Finally
• Arrange sentences accordingly.
(D) Reference Words
• This, That, These, Those, Such, It, They, He, She
• These words refer to something mentioned earlier. So, the sentence with
these words cannot be the rst one.
4. Spot Articles (A, An, The)
• "A" or "An" introduces a concept for the rst time.
• "The" refers to something mentioned earlier.
Example:
1⃣ A new study reveals that exercise improves mental health.
2⃣ The research, conducted by Harvard University, analyzed 10,000 people.
Since "The research" refers to the study mentioned earlier, sentence 2 must
come after sentence 1.
5. Subject Consistency
Ensure that sentences discussing the same subject are grouped together.
❌ Incorrect Order:
1⃣ Social media in uences our daily lives.
2⃣ Some scientists believe climate change is the biggest threat today.
3⃣ It has changed the way we communicate and share information.
✅ Correct Order:
1⃣ Social media in uences our daily lives.
2⃣ It has changed the way we communicate and share information.
(Sentence 2 logically follows sentence 1 because "it" refers to social media.)

6. Chronological Order
• If there are dates or historical events, arrange them in order.
• Look for time-based clues like "In 1990", "Before that", "Later on",
"Eventually".
Example:
1⃣ In 1903, the Wright brothers built the rst successful airplane.
2⃣ By the 1950s, commercial airlines were transporting passengers worldwide.
3⃣ Before that, people relied on ships and trains for long-distance travel.
Correct Order: 1 → 3 → 2
7. Test the Flow
• After arranging, read the paragraph as a whole to see if it makes sense.
• If something feels out of place, try switching it with another sentence.
