Assignment #04: Interview and Group Discussion Due date: April 19, 2022 (Tuesday)

25% marks penalty per week will be levied on late submission. This will be strictly
followed even if you submit the assignment just after the due date.

1. Write short notes on each of the following terms with special reference to job interviews
in about 100 words.
(a) Mental agility
(b) Unsuitable personality
(c) Interpersonal skills
(d) Apathy
(e) Behavioural questions

2. Assume that you are one of the interview panellists who are going to a renowned
institution for engineering and technology in India for campus interviews. Prepare the
plan for your entire interview process including all the types of evaluation components
that are required to assess the candidates thoroughly. Invent necessary details.

3. Discuss with your friends and try to work out answer for each of the following questions
that may be asked in an interview:
(f) What is the one question you do not want to ask me?
(g) Why should we hire you?
(h) Are you a quick learner? Give an example.
(i) What motivated you to apply for this position?
(j) Tell any three things you expect from our Company.
(k) What is your biggest achievement/failure in life?

4. Assume that as the manager of a company, you are participating in a GD to decide upon
the cost cutting measures to be adopted in your organization. Your organization has
been providing transport facilities, refreshments, subsidized meals, etc. to the
employees. Now prepare at least four expressions for each of the following functions
you may have to carry out during your discussion:
(a) Expressing your opinions
(b) Disagreeing with someone
(c) Raising questions
(d) Interrupting someone
(e) Being polite and firm
(f) Describing situations

5. Some of the topics for group discussion are given hereunder:


(a) Lockdown and its impact (positive/negative) on human life.
(b) Competition is ultimately more detrimental than beneficial to society.
(c) To be an effective leader, a public official must maintain the highest ethical and
moral standards.
(d) The greatness of an individual can be decided only by those who live after them, not
by their contemporaries.
(e) In any field of inquiry, the beginner is more likely than the expert to make important
discoveries.
(f) Technology creates more problems than it solves.

Prepare at least 05 points each, in favour and against, on any one topic provided above.
Also think about opening statement and closing remarks for the chosen topic.
