OUR TEAM & EXPERTISE
[Link].’s strength lies in its human capital — a cohesive team of highly qualified engineers. The key figure
within the company is Professor Fabio Brancaleoni, Full Professor of Structural Mechanics since 1989
at Sapienza University of Rome, where he currently holds the chair of Bridge and Large Structures
Management. Throughout his academic career, Professor Brancaleoni has held numerous teaching
positions in fundamental disciplines of structural engineering, including Bridge Theory and Design,
Structural Design, Mechanics of Materials and Structures, Bridges and Large Structures, and Structural
Mechanics, at Sapienza University of Rome, Roma Tre University, and the “G. D’Annunzio” University of
Chieti-Pescara.
Around the leadership of Professor Brancaleoni and the senior partners, a team has grown that
embodies a virtuous balance between experience and innovation. The majority of [Link].’s engineers
are young professionals, most of whom graduated from Sapienza University and were former students
of Professor Brancaleoni. These engineers have successfully combined strong academic foundations
with the professional expertise gained within the company. This natural continuity between the
technical tradition represented by the founding partners and senior professionals and the new
generation of engineers stands as one of [Link].’s defining strengths, enabling the firm to merge solid
scientific competence with design vision and an innate drive for innovation.
A significant part of the company’s activity is dedicated to research and development, including
participation in European programs (such as BRITE‑EURAM) and experimental projects carried out in
collaboration with Italian and international universities. Among the most notable initiatives is the study
of passive seismic protection devices based on shape memory alloys (SMA), as well as the installation
and management of permanent seismic monitoring systems on public buildings in cooperation with the
Italian Civil Protection Department.
The field of proof engineering and consultancy in technical disputes and arbitration also represents a
key area of activity for [Link]. The company has been involved as a technical expert in numerous legal
proceedings, both in Italy and abroad, bringing its expertise in structural safety, damage assessment,
malfunction analysis, and regulatory compliance.
MAIN SERVICES
In Italy, [Link]. has been involved in major infrastructure projects, most notably the new Polcevera
Bridge in Genoa, built as a continuous composite box deck over 1000 m in length. Among the most
significant bridge projects are the design of the Po River Bridge in Cremona and various bridges and
viaducts for ANAS infrastructure, many of them mixed steel-concrete structures, serving roads such as
the Telesina, Fortorina, Garganica, and Bradanica routes, with spans reaching up to 130 meters. The
company also contributed to two bridges on the Variante di Valico and on the Salerno–Reggio Calabria
motorway, including the Ruiz and Stupino Viaducts, as well as the Tanagro and Petroso Bridges.
Additional noteworthy projects include the bridges over the Tiber River at Castel Giubileo and the “Rita
Levi Montalcini” Bridge in Rome.
[Link]. has been engaged in numerous railway infrastructure works, including bridges over the Oglio
and Serio rivers, high-speed railway viaducts for the IRICAV Consortium, viaducts on the Catania–
Palermo line, steel bridges on the Pescara–Bari railway, and the quadrupling of the Voltri–Brignole line.
In the field of underground infrastructure, the company has worked on the Turin Railway Bypass, the
Palermo Metro-Tramway, and Line D of the Rome Metro. Other significant projects include bridges and
viaducts on the Ionica route, viaducts on the Caserta–Foggia and Taranto–Metaponto lines, the Naples

Junction, and testing and inspection activities on the viaducts of the Rome–Naples and Rome–Milan
high-speed railway lines, among which the Modena Viaduct stands out.
[Link]. also has significant expertise in rehabilitation of the existing structural wealth, having carried
out numerous seismic vulnerability assessments and safety verifications in accordance with the Italian
“Guidelines for Bridge Management” (LLG, April 2020), for both road and railway infrastructures, as well
as the design of rehabilitation works. Notable examples include the Bormida Nord segmental bridge,
the Bormida Sud arch bridge, and the Batei arch bridge, currently undergoing safety assessments and
executive design for operational efficiency and seismic retrofitting. In the railway sector, the Angitola
Viaduct is among the key projects, along with numerous localized interventions for the installation of
noise barriers.
On the international stage, it is worth mentioning the Engineering services for technical and detail
design, construction drawings of the bridge structure of the Suspension bridge of 1120 m main span on
the Danube River, Braila, Romania for the JV Astaldi – IHI. The bridge will be one of the largest in Europe
and the largest on rivers in continental Europe. [Link]. has contributed to several other high-profile
projects, such as the ongoing Sotra Suspension Bridge in Norway and the planned Sulafjorden
Suspension Bridge — also in Norway — which, with its 2,800-meter main span, would become the
longest in the world. In the railway sector, [Link]. worked on numerous structures for the “Landbridge”
project connecting Jeddah to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, including around seven kilometres of viaducts and
a 230-meter span arch bridge, as well as the Windsor Road Cable-Stayed Bridge in Sydney, Australia.
Other notable projects include participation in the design of the New Panama Canal, the floodway
project on the Rio de la Plata in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and several Copenhagen Metro stations.
