1. Objective
Regarding the manufacturing process for I, II-class pipes at our company or the pipe-manufacturing
company, it is necessary to minimize the potential cost by preventing any error in advance after
receiving the products without any error according to the test for the completion of the
manufacturing process / the dimension test / the hyd' test for the QM of the company / the
blueprint and design in the presence of the owner and class inspection.

2. Range of Application
The I, II-class pipe equipment is used for every ship built by our company.
It is necessary to follow the same flow for every I, II-class pipe equipment at the shop or our
company.

1. Objective
This is the pipe installed on the external deck of the ship. When the standard is not appropriate
for the current level of installation, there can be a problem regarding the launching of the ship
due to the repair. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out thorough inspection in advance, in order
to prevent any possible delay.

2. Range of Application
It is required for the manufacturer to check the wall thickness and carrying out the prior block
process, regarding all the pipes installed on the side shell of the ship.

3. Definition
The ship side pipes and valves mean the spool pipes installed on the surface of the ship directly
faced with the sea water. Such pipes should pass the wall thickness specified by the regulation.
Also, it is necessary to use the valves which pass the test specified by the regulation.

5.1 Installation Standard for the Ship Side Pipe Nozzle


5.1.1 Cautions for the management of the ship side nozzle

the welded part and the ship side nozzle.

3) By considering the angle of the flange bolt hole, it is necessary to install the vertical or
horizontal valves in the future.
4) When constructing the penetrating holes, it is necessary to check whether there is an excessive
number of gaps.

5.1.2 Ship Side Nozzle Bracket Installation Regulation


1) It is necessary to keep 50mm gap between the bracket and the side shell.
2) The thickness of the bracket is 8~10mm.
3) The number of holes for the bracket below
350A is three, with B, D and E positions.
4) The number of holes for the bracket above
400A is four, with A, C, D and E positions.
5) The welding state of the side shell inside/
/outside should be good.
(Especially, it is necessary to weld the inside
bracket part thoroughly.)
6) The corner of the ship side nozzle(edge) should be
treated with the smooth grinding process, in order to apply the painting process.

2. Basic Knowledge for Each System Pipe

Every ship has the ballast tank on the front, stern or deck. Also, the ballast tank is on both
sides of the double bottom and the hold space wing. It is required to have such a tank in order
to sail in the propelling condition without touching the cargo. Also, such a tank is necessary to
handle various external forces during the sail.

6) HYDRAULIC OIL SYSTEM


- According to Pascal's principle, it is necessary to use the hyd' oil in order to get a bigger
force with a small pressure. The system is used for the rotation of each machine and the
unloading tool.

Pascale's Principle
- The changing pressure which occurs in a certain part of the static material in the sealed
container, for the material (gas or liquid) dynamics. Such a change can be transferred to other
parts of the material or the wall of the container without having any damage.
- The pressure generated by the piston in the hydraulic equipment can be used in the same way as
other pistons. If the size of any other piston becomes 10 times as the one of the first piston,
the pressure applied to the second piston is same as the one of the first piston. However, the
force becomes 10 times stronger. Such an effect can be found from the hydraulic press or the
hydraulic generator based on Pascal's Principle. Also, Pascal found that the pressure applied to
a certain position of the static material is same for every direction.

7) INERT GAS PIPING SYSTEM


- It is the inactivated gas which is used in the cargo tank when carrying out the cargo loading
and unloading processes, the tank cleaning process and the topping up process. It is used to
replace the combustible gas in the petroleum. Also, it is used to keep the amount of oxygen in
the tank under 8%, in order to prevent the possibility of explosion.
- Generally, the inert generator is used. Also, the exhausting gas of the boiler can be used.

4. Sealing Standard for Tanks and Entire Internal/External Pipes


Pipes after Executing the Prior Process

4.1 The edge of every pipe should be sealed after carrying out the process.
(to prevent any internal pollution)
4.2 The oil pipe, the special pipe and the special material pipe should be seals on both ends
according to the sealing standard of the spool pipe.
4.3 It is necessary to check the sealing state about the pipe before carrying out the painting
process.

5. Recycling of Sealing Materials / Recycling Classification


5.1 All the related departments should place the recycling boxes on the site to collect every
material which can be recycled, excluding the consumable materials(including tapes).
5.2 The places for collecting the materials should be chosen by the head of each department. After
the materials are collected, they should be delivered to the material management department

5.3 The head of the material management department should collect all the materials which can be
recycled. All the materials should be managed to be reused by the companies to which the
material purchasing department give the orders.

It is necsesary to check the inside of the pipe on each workplace for each level. When any problem
is found, it is necessary to solve it through the prior feedback stage before carrying out the
process.
