Choir Booster Board Member’s Purpose:

To enhance the quality of choral education at CHS by providing needed support to choir members by
organizing volunteers and providing multiple opportunities to raise funds for various needs throughout
the school year.

Choir Booster Board Member’s Individual Responsibilities:

Each officer is expected to do the best of one’s ability to uphold their perspective office position.

Choir Director: Primary responsibility is to uphold state education choral standards and provide
meaningful instruction, keep students engaged by providing quality literature, provide a safe
community, and maintain classroom facilities. It is also up to the Choir Director to oversee all Choir
Board Member’s Responsibilities.

President: Primary responsibility is to facilitate choir booster meetings, contact vendors and get
product and/or supplies needed into the student’s/parent’s hands for fund raising events. The
President is also the goal setter of incentives for the choir students and/or parents.

Vice President: Primary responsibility is to obtain and sustain our volunteer base. The Vice President
should be in charge of organizing volunteer hours at various events and keeping track of volunteer’s
time served totals. This includes fundraisers, field trips, and home concerts.

Secretary: Primary responsibility is to communicate with our parent/guardian base of all choir events.
This will be done in two forms of communication e-mail and the quarterly newsletter. The Secretary will
keep minutes at choir booster board meetings and choir parent booster meetings and after approval,
he/she will send them to the parent/guardian e-mail group.

Treasurer: Primary responsibility is to collect all choir deposits/donations, count, and keep record for all
individual student deposits/donations. Lastly, he/she will deposit all choir funds to appropriate
accounts.

Marketing and Promotions Chair: Primary responsibility is to advertise all choir events in multiple ways
that will better our communication of concert dates and fund raising events with our parent base and
the CHS community.

Attire Manager: Primary responsibility is to ensure that every student has needed attire for
performance events. The Attire Manager needs to have an adequate supply of various needed items for
example, black socks, safety pins, etc. Lastly, he/she must be knowledgeable of what to do in case of a
wardrobe malfunction.

Booster Board Member’s Goals:

To enrich the lives of our choral students by providing them equity in opportunities so that they may
receive a quality vocal music education and thrive in a positive and caring environment provided by the
Century High School choral department.
Best Practice and Safety Guidelines:

We are a community of innovative thinkers and “doers,” please get permission from the Choir Director
before implementing anything new to our clientele.

All communication that is public needs to be approved by the Choir Director.

Contacting choir students is prohibited. If, for any reason, students need to receive a message, please
contact the Choir Director and s/he will make the communication for you.

The Choir Director will check their voice mail and e-mail at the end of each school day. S/he will do their
utmost best to return your call or reply to your e-mail in a timely fashion. Please give the Choir Director
time to clearly process your need and logically respond. (Please be patient with this process due to the
multitude of e-mails expected this upcoming school year.)

Meeting Norms:

To ensure our choir booster board meetings and our choir parent booster meetings are productive and
enjoyable from beginning to end, it is best practice to set norms for the group to get the most of our
time and efforts. At this time let’s work together to provide and expect the following norms of one
another. Here are some suggestions;

1. Please do your best to be present at all our meetings.

2. Allow everyone time to receive an equal opportunity to participate.
3. Equal time limit for each topic.
4. Respect each other’s time and try to stay on topic.
5. Be cognitive that our secretary is trying to keep minutes.
