OAU Post-UTME Aggregate Score, Cut-Off Marks, and Parameters

This document explains the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Post-UTME aggregate
score, cut-off marks, and the parameters used to determine the aggregate.

Cut-Off Marks (Aggregate)

- JAMB UTME Cut-Off: To be eligible for OAU’s Post-UTME screening, you must score at least
200 in the UTME.
- Departmental Aggregate Cut-Offs: After obtaining your overall aggregate score, it’s
compared against competitive departmental cut-off marks, which vary by course. Examples
include:
• Medicine & Surgery: ~80.3
• Dentistry: ~71.525
• Nursing Science: ~72.95
• Pharmacy: ~73.825
• Architecture: ~67.5
• Law: ~64.675

How the Aggregate Score Is Calculated

OAU calculates your admission aggregate using a [Link] weighting formula—dividing the
total possible 100% among three components:

1. JAMB UTME Score (50%): Computed as (JAMB score ÷ 8).

2. Post-UTME Screening Score (40%): Computed as (Post-UTME score ÷ 2).
3. O’Level Results (10%): Assign points to your 5 core subjects and average them:
- A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5.

Aggregate Formula
Aggregate Score = (JAMB ÷ 8) + (Post-UTME ÷ 2) + (Average O’Level Points)

Example Calculation
Suppose:
- JAMB: 250 → 250 ÷ 8 = 31.25
- Post-UTME: 50 → 50 ÷ 2 = 25
- O’Level (A1, B3, B2, B3, C5) → points: 10 + 8 + 9 + 8 + 6 = 41, ÷5 = 8.2

Total Aggregate = 31.25 + 25 + 8.2 = 64.45

Summary Table
Component Weight Calculation Example

JAMB UTME 50% JAMB ÷ 8 (e.g., 250 ÷ 8 =

31.25)
Post-UTME 40% Post-UTME ÷ 2 (e.g., 50 ÷ 2
= 25)

O’Level Results 10% Average of 5 grades (e.g.,

8.2)

Total Aggregate — ~64.45

Key Takeaways
- Minimum eligibility: JAMB score of 200.
- Admission chances depend on beating your course’s specific departmental aggregate
cut-off.
- Use the [Link] formula to calculate your total aggregate score and see if you're on track.
