Debrief
The true intent of our study was to determine whether there are gender
differences in obedience levels shown. We were not able to disclose this
prior to handing over the questionnaire as it may have caused you to alter
your responses instead of giving a genuine response.
As mentioned in the information sheet, your responses are not shared
outside the researchers, and no personal details were requested.
Your questionnaire will be destroyed after your responses have been
analyzed, which will be within 31 days.
Some questions were used as ‘dummies’; they have no real usefulness to
our study and were included in order to prevent you guessing our study’s
aim prior to its disclosure.
You retain your right to withdraw the results of your questionnaire within
31 days. After analysis, this right is null and can no longer be exercised.
Some questions which required extended responses were used in order to
investigate your perception of authority figures- this was done in order to
understand whether you had an authoritarian personality, which would in
theory make you more obedient.
You were also required to answer a question which investigated your own
perspective of gender differences in obedience, to determine which gender
is popularly perceived to be more obedient.
Thank you for taking part in our study.
Your participation is highly appreciated.
