Reflexión

In this lesson I had the opportunity to learn new words like: flood, landfill, hazardous
waste and greenpeace. On the other hand, the issue of caring for our environment
must be very conscientious about it, because it is a problem with pollution and we
must know the ways to avoid it. Quantifiers are important in our grammar, I have
learned to be able to use them better on different occasions but I hope to continue
improving them.

Reflexion

I think the most shocking thing about pollution is the speed with the effects progress
due to the increase in population, it is incredible the amount of damage that the planet
already has, much of that damage is already irreversible. The worrying thing is that the
government does not take climate change very seriously, it only does something when
it is under pressure from society.
The Infographics are very important to summarize and share information, they are very
visual and that helps make it appealing, these types of resources are indispensable for
distributing important information.

housing include electricity, gas, products to clean, water, heating (if is necessary), and
garbage collection service; Transportación in my opinion includes going to and from
school, Job and recreational outings; and other goods can be headphones, cell service,
internet, streaming apps, etc.

whenever they told me to go out, I said no to do homework or something and from
that I give myself time to go out with my friends. Currently we already plan to go out
together on a trip, but we are working to save and enjoy it on the trip.

The best birthday

A few years ago my mom celebrated her 40th birthday, it was a very funny and family
night. The theme was from the 90's and we all arrived dressed as artists from that
time. I remember that everyone began to sing Karaoke happily, my cousin who is a
dancer began to do a choreography of Bridney Spears, which came out perfect. For the
first time I saw my daring and nice relatives enjoying a wonderful night, I dressed as
Selena Quintanilla because my hair was just as long and black. Without a doubt, it was
an unforgettable night, hopefully we can have a party as nice as that one again.

This lesson was of great help since I did not remember some things and once seen, I
remember it and it becomes easier.
From my point of view, I think it is extremely important to use them, as this will have a
better understanding for the readers.

Why not consider volunteering to save Planet Earth?

There are many opportunities available. Here are just a few.

A The world is experiencing a time of change. We are moving from a ‘grey’

economy, based on habits that are harmful to the environment, to a ‘green’
economy, based on the understanding that we need to protect our environment.
How will future generations meet these challenges? Volunteers are needed for
the Global Youth for Environmental Protection (GYEP) agency. You will help to
train young and interested high school students while they prepare themselves
for the green jobs of the future. Join today and help shape the minds of
tomorrow!

B The Amazon Basin covers about seven million square kilometres, and is home to more than 2.6
species of animals. It is one of Earth’s finest treasures. However, by 2020, logging will have reduc
size of rainforests by 60%. The National Science Foundation (NSF) is looking for volunteers to he
an end to this before it is too late. Volunteers will help scientists in their study of the destruction o
Amazon rainforest and its effect on the ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to travel with sc
through the jungle in an experience of a lifetime. Don’t miss
out!
C Help save the beaches of a unique chain of islands! With their warm waters
and white sandy beaches that stretch for miles, the Bahamas are everyone’s
dream of a tropical paradise. Just off the coast of Florida, this island chain has
not been affected by development until quite recently. Help to put an end to this
before the beauty of these islands is destroyed. With the Coastal Ecology Center
(CEC), volunteers will examine the effects of growing coastal development on
the plants and animals which live nearby. You will help compare satellite images
to on-the-ground
information.

D Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and create new homes for Indian
families. Help a poor community live in safe housing. During this 15-day
adventure, you will be helping families in Bhaleswa, near New Delhi, rebuild
homes which were destroyed by floods during the rainy season. You will be
working with a team of local builders, community members and the families who
will eventually live in the houses you will have helped build. We are looking for
cheerful and hardworking people who have experience in construction work. If
you fit this description, then please join
us!

PART 1 - RECOMMENDATIONS

What's the best advice from friends and family for a great job
interview?

You must demonstrate safety and be honest, as well as say what you
stand out in.

PART 2 - NO MORE BIAS

Do you think that one day in the future when you are a
successful professional in charge of hiring people you will help
reduce discrimination based on sex, gender, racial profile,
economical background, tattoos and piercings, religion, etc? Or
will you be strict and biased like the older generations?

Not at all, I think I’m one of those who cares about the way they can
perform regardless of their appearances or how they consider themselves
to be.

Lesson 10

Famous invention

Semi-submersible freighter

In civil engineering semi-submersible freighters were invented, these are used to

transport really big things. In order to do this, the central platform is semi-sunk into
the sea, then the cargo is parked on this platform and once there, the freighter
platform is raised again and the cargo is transported to the destination. The ballast
system used by a semi-submersible freighter must allow the ship to be ballasted and
debaltered in a few hours and to do so with precision. These types of ships have huge
and clear decks, they have a cutting-edge engineering design that allows them to
transport any object to the open sea. At first glance it looks like it is missing the sides,
but this design makes it perfect for its function.

Part 4
Read the following blog and answer the questions at the end.
After traveling around the world for almost half a week and moving
through three international airports and nineteen time zones, we
finally step off the helicopter. We are at the beginning of the
Karimskaya River in the region of Kamchatka. It's a bright sunny day
and in the far distance I can see the Karimski volcano. This is
probably the wildest place in Russia but if the weather is this good for
the next few days, the expedition will go well.
In the past, when explorers arrived in a strange place, they put up
their tents or cooked a meal. But nowadays, when explorers arrive in
a new place, they log on to their social networking site using a
satellite phone. Explorers in the past wrote about their adventures in
books which were published months or year later. Nowadays, we post
a message in seconds.

Sites like Facebook and Twitter also help if we have a problem.

Someone in our group touched a strange plant and suddenly his skin
was red and painful. I asked for advice on Twitter: "Hand touched a
strange plant. It's red and hot. Any advice?" Minutes later, someone
who knew the region replied, "Probably a Pushki plant. If it is, it'll hurt
but it won't kill you!" In the age of the modern explorer,
communication like this really helps to make decisions, and
sometimes it even saves lives.

Lesson 12

Foro 1
I always use technology all day, from morning to night. Technology helps me a lot at
school, it helps me how quickly it is to find certain information on a subject. I can even
watch videos to further understand a specific topic. It also helps me to contact
someone faster and regardless of the distance. However, everything in excess is bad
and I feel like I can't live without technology, a day without a cell phone or a day
without internet overwhelms me. For this reason, I think I should disconnect a bit to
return to reality and see that there is a whole world outside my cell phone.

Mixer truck

What is a mixer truck and how does it work?

A mixer truck is a vehicle equipped with a mixing drum which allows the mixture
(concrete or pre-mixed concrete) to be transported without losing its properties and
moisture.

The history of the mixer truck

It was in 1917 that Stephen Stepanian submitted a patent application for the mixer
truck as we know it, but the patent department rejected it, as they believed that the
truck bed was unable to support the weight of the mix. They also thought that the
truck's engine would not be able to move as much weight.

In addition to this, the design of the truck was asymmetrical and not very aesthetic, so
the experts of that time did not conceive of a design for the cab of the truck, next to
the mixer drum, in addition to the fact that they had no history that an engine of truck
moved said mixture.

How does a mixer truck work?

Each truck is supplied with the elements that will be mixed at the plant from which the
truck departs. The elements that can be poured on it are many, but essentially they are:
cement, sand, water, gravel and additives.

The mixer drum homogenizes all the elements that were added to it and keeps the
mixture moist and with its properties during the journey or the distance that the mixer
truck travels.

When the truck arrives at the destination site, the mixer truck operator unloads the
mixture through the hopper or the unloading channel.

When the unloading of the material is finished, the truck operator must thoroughly
clean the hopper and the mixing drum system to prevent residue from sticking.

How is the mixing process?

The working principle of the mixer truck is that the hydraulic motor drives the reducer
so that it can drive the mixing system and mix the material in the drum.
In the mixing process, the blades are the key components, as worn or destroyed blades
will cause the concrete or mix to mix unevenly.

As the material is fed and transported, the mixing drum rotates forward and the
concrete moves into the blades. When discharging the material, the drum rotates in
the opposite direction and the concrete is discharged to the outside of the blades; If
the design of the angles of the blades is not reasonable, it will cause the insulation of
the material.
