CHECK LIST OF SKILL QUESTIONS

MOTOR SYSTEM
EXAMINE THE BULK OF LOWER LIMB MUSCLES (5 marks)
Sl No: Points to be noted
1. Self-introduction, building rapport & taking consent
2. Give appropriate instruction prior to the procedure
3 Proper positioning such a way that examiner can visualize
4. Exposing the muscle to be examined
5. Identifying the bony prominence to be taken as fixed point
6. Note the distance of maximum bulk of muscle from fixed point and measure the
circumference
7. Do it on the other side at same distance from the similar fixed point
8 Report the finding

EXAMINE THE TONE OF UPPER LIMB MUSCLES (5 marks)


Sl No: Points to be noted
1. Self-introduction, building rapport & taking consent
2. Give appropriate instruction about the test prior to the procedure (completely relax)
3 Proper positioning such a way that examiner can visualize
4. Passive movement of wrist joint on both sides
5. Passive movement of elbow joint on both sides
6. Passive movement of shoulder joint on both sides
7. Report the finding

EXAMINE THE POWER OF HAND MUSCLES (5 marks)

1. Self-introduction, building rapport & taking consent
2. Give appropriate instruction for testing each muscle (5 muscles) prior to the procedure
3 Proper positioning such a way that examiner can visualize
4 Check the power of abductor pollicis brevis-
- Correct technique
- Check on both sides
5. Check the power of opponens pollicis-
- Correct technique
- Check on both sides
6. Check the power of first dorsal interosseous-
- Correct technique
- Check on both sides
7. Check the power of interossei & lumbricals -
- Correct technique
- Check on both sides
8. Check the power of flexors of fingers -
- Correct technique
- Check on both sides
9 Report the finding (grading of the power)
EXAMINE THE POWER OF FLEXORS AND EXTENSORS OF KNEE (5 marks)

2. Give appropriate instruction for checking power of each group of muscle prior to the
procedure
3 Proper positioning such a way that examiner can visualize
4. Check the power of Flexors of knee-
- Correct technique
- Check on both sides
5. Check the power of Extensors of knee-
- Correct technique
- Check on both sides
6 Report the finding (grading of power)

EXAMINE FOR THE CO-ORDINATION OF MOVEMENT OF UPPER LIMB (5 marks)


Sl No: Points to be noted
1. Self-introduction, building rapport & taking consent
2. Give appropriate instruction for each of the 3 tests prior to the procedure
3 Proper positioning such a way that examiner can visualize
4. Finger Nose test
- Correct technique (Multiple times and changing the direction for full extension)
- Check on both sides
5. Finger to finger test
- Correct technique with open and closed eyes
6 Diadochokinesia
- Correct technique
- Check on both sides
7 Reporting the finding

EXAMINE FOR THE CO-ORDINATION OF MOVEMENT OF LOWER LIMB (5 marks)

2 Proper positioning such a way that examiner can visualize
3 Give appropriate instruction for each of the 2 tests prior to the procedure
4. Straight line test
- Correct technique
- Walking to and fro
5. Heel- shin test
- Correct technique
- Repetition of 2 to 3 times of same procedure
- Check on both sides
6 Reporting the finding
