USER GUIDE TO ENABLE 2-STEP VERIFICATION & ADD RECOVERY EMAIL ADDRESS

Step:1 - Log in to your Gmail account


Open your web browser and login to gmail.com. Enter your SRMAP official email ID and password, then
click Next.

Step: 2 – Enable 2-Step Verification (2SV)


• After updating your password, a pop-up will prompt you to enable 2-Step Verification (2SV). Click
"ENROLL" to proceed.

• You will be directed to the 2-Step Verification setup page. Click "Turn on 2SV."

Step: 3(a) – Verify your Phone Number (Official email ID is configured on a mobile device)

• If you have configured your SRMAP official email ID on your mobile device, you will receive a
confirmation once 2-Step Verification is enabled.

• Click on your profile logo and select "Manage your Google Account. Under the "Security" tab,
locate the "2 Step Verification" section.

• Add your phone number and select the mode for receiving sign-in codes from Google.

• You will receive a G-code via a pop-up message. Enter the code in the designated field and click
verify. Once verified, your account is now protected by 2SV.

Step: 3(b) - Verify your Phone Number (If email ID is not configured on a mobile device)

• Select your country code (e.g., India [IND]) and enter your phone number. Choose "Receive codes
by text message" to get a One-Time Password (OTP).

• You will receive a G-code via a pop-up message. Enter the code in the designated field and click
“Verify”. Once the code is entered, your account is now protected by 2SV.

Step: 4(a): Verify your Recovery Email Address (If already added)

• Click on your profile logo and select "Manage your Google Account”. Under the "Security" tab,
locate the "Recovery Email" section.

• Check if the email address entered is correct. If incorrect, click the email address option to update
your recovery email address.

• You will receive a google verification code in your recovery email ID. Enter the code in the designated
field and click verify. Once verified, you will receive a confirmation email to your SRMAP official email
ID.

Step 4(b): Add a Recovery Email Address (If Not Set)

• Click on your profile logo and select "Manage your Google Account”. Under the "Security" tab,
locate the "Recovery Email" section.

• Enter your recovery email and click "Verify." You will receive a google verification code in your
recovery email ID. Enter the code in the designated field and click “Verify”. Once verified, you will
receive a confirmation email to your SRMAP official email ID.
