AMPERE’S EYE The eye that never blinks on your power
Ampere’s Eye is a smart socket reminder system that alerts users when they plug in a
charger or appliance but forget to switch on the power. It uses a current sensor to detect
whether electricity is flowing to the connected device. If the plug is detected but no
current flows for 10 seconds, a buzzer is triggered to notify the user. This prevents wasted
charging time and inconvenience.
MOTIVATION
We often face situations where we plug in a charger or appliance but
forget to turn on the wall switch, only to realize it much later. This small
oversight can lead to wasted time, missed deadlines (like uncharged
devices before travel or class), and frustration. Ampere’s Eye aims to
solve this everyday problem with a simple, automated alert system. By
detecting the absence of current flow after plugging in, it ensures users
are immediately reminded, improving convenience and reducing such
avoidable delays.
SOCIAL BENEFIT
Ampere’s Eye helps reduce the everyday inconvenience caused by
forgotten switch-ons, ensuring devices are charged on time and
appliances run when needed. It can be especially beneficial for elderly
people, busy professionals, and students who may forget to check
switches. By preventing repeated recharging attempts or appliance
downtime, it saves time, reduces frustration, and encourages efficient
use of electricity. On a larger scale, such reminders can promote energy
awareness and safer handling of electrical appliances.
