ABSTRACT
This project presents a simulink-based design and simulation of a solar
power generation system for residential applications. The system
consist of photovoltaic (PV) panels, a DC-DC boost converter, an
inverter and a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller for grid
integration or standalone operation. The simulink model simulates the
system’s performance under varying solar irradiance and temperature
conditions, demonstrating its feasibility for reliable and efficient solar
power generation. The design can be used for educational purposes,
research, or a starting point for developing real-world solar power
sytems.

INTRODUCTION
The growing energy demand, as well as the environmental issues that
come with traditional power generation practices, has promoted a
renewed interest in renewable energy options. Among themsolar power
is an environmentally friendly and sustainable option, with immense
prospects for decentralized power generation, especially at the
residential scale. Solar photovoltaic(PV) systems, which converts sunlight
directly into electricity, have gained widespread acceptance for home
energy generation due to their scalability, low maintenance
requirements, and the decreasing cost of solar panel and associated
technologies. The goal is to create a reliable and efficient sytem that can
harness solar energy and provide a stable power supply for residential
applications.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
The project aims to generate electrical power for home use through solar
energy using a photovoltaic system modeled and simulated in MATLAB
Simulink. The system begins with solar panels that convert sunlight into DC
electricity. To ensure the system operates at its highest efficiency, a
Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithm-typically perturb and observes-is
integrated to dynamically adjust the operating point of the PV array. The DC
power is then boosted using a DC-DC converter to meet the desired voltage
level. This is followed by a DC-AC inverter that converts the regulated DC
into AC power compatible with household appliances. Optionally, a battery
energy storage system is included to store excess energy and supply power
during low-sunlight conditions or at [Link] simulink model includes all
major components ands allows analysis of system behavior under varying
environmental conditions, such as solar irradiance and temperature.

ADVANTAGES

Harnesses solar energy, reducing reliance on finite fossil fuels and mitigating
climate change.

Produces clean energy, minimizing environmental impact, air pollution, and
greenhouse gas emissions.

Enables households and businesses to generate their own energy, reducing
dependence on the grid and enhancing energy security.

Matlab allows for precise modelling and simulation of solar power systems,
enabling homeowners to predict performances and optimize system design.

8
APPLICATIONS
1. Solar power systems can be provide electricity for homes, reducing reliance
on the grid and lowering electricity bills.

2. MATLAB-designed solar power systems can be used for off-grid application,

providing electricity for remote homes or area without access to the grid.

3. Solar power systems can be connected to the grid , allowing home owners to
sell excess energy back to the utility company.

4. Solar power systems can be used to charge electric vehicles, reducing reliance
on fossil fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

9
CONCLUSION
In this study, the proponents successfully simulated the Solar Power
Generation to Home using MATLAB SIMULINK. The majority of
individuals are aware of non-renewable energy sources. Solar energy
has grown in popularity as a result of its cost-effectiveness. Solar
energy can offer electricity 24/7, even on cloudy days and at night,
with the help of a converter and inverter. It offers greater advantages
than other energy sources such as fossil fuels and petroleum resources.
It is a viable and consistent option for meeting the increased energy
demand.
