The Truce

The air we breathe in grew heavy with unsaid words,

With things left unspoken, left unheard with lots of misunderstanding,

Like a storm brewing inside of our hearts,

With thunderous emotion about to start.

In the quiet moments, we felt the strain,

A silent battle where no one could gain,

Our shared memories felt like a distant dream,

Shattered pieces of what once was a seamless team.

We slowly drifted apart, and I thought,

Maybe I can bring her back, maybe we’ll be fine,

But I was scared to reach out, to take that leap of faith,

And risk the chance of being turned away.

The nights grew longer with thoughts in my mind,

Of all the times we laughed and left worries behind,

I wondered if she felt the same ache in her heart,

Longing for the days we weren’t apart.

Yet, the idea of making amends,

Of bridging the gap, of putting everything to rest,

It filled me with hope, with courage, and with love,

And I knew that I had to try regardless the cost.

I reminisced about our bond, so strong and true,

Wondered if she missed the good old days too,

The thought of reconciliation brought a glimmer of light,

In the dark, lonely nights that felt so tight.

So I mustered up all of my strength, and I found the words,

To tell her that I was sorry, that I missed our friendship,

And that I’m willing to do whatever it takes,

To make things right with no more mistakes.

I rehearsed my apology a thousand times,

Pondered over words, composing careful lines,

With every practice, my resolve grew stronger,

I couldn’t bear to hold the silence any longer.

And to my desperate surprise, she greeted me with those lost familiar smile,

The imperfection screams for an unjust truce,

The truce we both long to entice,

So at the Halfway Street is where we’ll meet.

Her smile was like the sun breaking through the clouds,

A sign that forgiveness was finally allowed,

Though the journey ahead seemed long and tough,

Her acceptance was indeed more than enough.

If your heart is heavy, and you’re feeling blue,

It’s okay to start afresh like anew,

And if you’re afraid to make the first move,

Just know that sometimes, it’s only the Nobles dare to do.

Regret and sorrow can weigh you down,

Turning your smiles into frowns,

But courage can lift you, help you soar,

And bring back the peace you’ve been longing for.

Don’t grasp your pain too tight,

It will only bleed you from core,

And while you can’t change the past,

You can always do more and more.

A fresh beginning, a chance to grow,

To rebuild what’s broken, to let love flow,

The path to heal may be long,

But with each mindful step, you right the wrong.

Forgiveness isn’t easy,

But it’s worth the fight,

For a broken heart to heal,

It needs to see the light.

In the end, we are all just human,

With flaws and mistakes, under the same sun,

So offer grace, extend a hand,

And watch as peace spreads across the land.

Learn to let go of the hurt and the hate,

Embrace the love and the peace,

For a truce is a beautiful thing,

A chance to start over, to please.

As we walk this path, hand in hand,

We’ll find new ways to understand,

That sometimes, the greatest strength lies,

In letting go, in peaceful ties.
