Fire Alarm System

• Addressable system with conventional detectors :

If we have a project with an existing conventional fire alarm detectors, we could
replace the conventional control panel with an addressable panel and connect the
detectors with (zone monitor module) to give them address. Or if we have open
areas which the exact address is not required like theaters or halls.

• Fire Alarm system applications :

▪ Marine approved : for ships and oil rigs
▪ Intrinsically safe : for high current systems
▪ Explosion proof : for hazardous areas

device on LCD screen

• Gives power to all loop devices and equipped with back up batteries in case of no
electricity

• Operates audio and visual signals to sounders and flashers in case of fire on 2
NAC circuits

• Controls required actions by modules for integration with HVAC, elevators, AC,
PA, BMS

• LEDs green for AC power, red for alarm, yellow for trouble

• Control panels comes in 1,2,4 and 8 loops, or 1,2,4 and 8 zones.

Fire Alarm System
2) Manual Call Point
• When a person detects a fire while the system didn’t detect it automatically he uses
the manual call point to give an i/p signal to the FACP to be warned with fire and
takes the necessary action.
• Manual call point named also Manual pull station , Break Glass, ‫كاسر‬.
• Manual call point Design :
▪ Installed at all floor exits at ground floor and emergency staircase at above floors.
▪ We should put MCP every 30 m (Don’t run more than 30 m)
▪ Installed at 1.4 m height from FFL on the right hand side of leaving person, in a
clear location with enough light, its color is different than the wall color to be clear
enough and away from any other buttons like lights, AC,…etc.

• Egyptian Code for Fire Alarm system design :

Fire Alarm System
3) Detectors
• Detectors are designed to detect the presence of fire automatically and sends an i/p
signal to the FACP to take the necessary action, type of detector depends on type of
fire we need to detect.
• Majority of detectors comes with bases and heads, bases are installed on ceiling and
heads are fixed on bases, bases are 4 inch, 6 inch, bases could came with sounder like
hotels or relay.
• Fire occurs first with a flame then smoke then heat.

• Detectors Types :
▪ Ionized Smoke detector : detects ions of smoke by radio active materials, but as its
harmful it is prohibited.

▪ Photoelectric Smoke detector : replacement for ionized detector which detects

photons of smoke inside the detector chamber, so it is slower in detection than
ionized but it is used as it not harmful, smoke detectors are the standard used
detector in all offices, corridors, halls, its sensitivity is (1.3-3.6 %) smoke from air
photon.

Fire Alarm System
Detectors Types
• Heat detector : areas which have existing smoke which could make false alarm like (kitchens, cafeterias, smoking
areas, dusty areas and garages), its types are :
o Fixed 60 : above 60c makes alarm (standard)
o Fixed 90 : for high temperature applications
o Rate of Rise : if temperature raised 15 c degrees in 1 min. makes alarm for different temperatures applications
o Combined : working with both scenarios fixed temperature or rate of rise.
• Multi Sensor : detects smoke or heat, used in server rooms, generators, data centers or hazardous applications
• Beam detector : for high ceiling applications (above 7m) and open areas like malls, available with transmitter &
receiver for 100 m length detection or transceiver with plate for 35 m length detection and both their width is 15 m
• Flame detector : for flammable materials applications like chemical, oils, papers and wood factories, detector is
available in IR or UV, detector should not be installed facing light or sun rays for false alarm.
• Duct detector : installed on the return of centralized AC and air flow rooms in which air flow is above 4000 fpm
• Air Sampling detector : for high sensitivity applications (0.0001 % smoke) like data centers, oil & gas and nuclear
• Gas detector : used for CO gas detection and installed in garages, or Methane gas and installed in kitchens
Fire Alarm System

Detectors Design
• Most common used detector is the smoke detectors.

• For applications which have existing smoke which could make false alarm like kitchens, cafeterias, smoking
areas, dusty areas we put heat detectors.

• For applications which have high ceiling more than 7m or open areas we put beam detectors.

• For applications which have flammable materials and could have fast fire like chemicals, oils, papers and wood
we put flame detectors.

• For hazardous areas or areas which could have fire from smoke or heat we use multi sensors.

• For flame detector coverage area it is function of height by the area of the circle πh2.

• If we have false ceiling or false ground its height is more than 80 cm and have cables we should put detectors and
put LEDs above ground or under ceiling, for long cable trays it is better to have LHD cables.

Voice Evacuation System
• Statistics showed that majority of people who die in case of fire are dying from the rush of escaping the building
more than from the fire itself, for that reason engineers created this system.

• System objective is to guide building occupants for the best and safest route for leaving the building.

• Voice Evacuation system scenario : is Fire fighters come to the building check the fire in each floor, then use
the fire telephone or connect portable handset in the fire phone jack beside each emergency stair case to call the
fire fighter leader through fire command center master fire phone to inform him with the fire status in each floor,
then leader use the paging microphone to guide building occupants for the safest route for leaving the building,
and uses audio control cards on panel to play evacuation and alert recorded messages to specific floors.

• System has different types :

▪ Single channel : to play one message at a time EVAC or Alert.
▪ Dual channel : to play 2 messages at a time EVAC and Alert.
▪ Multiple channel : to play a different message at each floor.

• Fire floor, floor above and floor down should play EVAC
message, and other floors should play Alert message.
Voice Evacuation System
• Voice Evacuation system consists of :

• Fire Command Center : large enclosure fire alarm control panel equipped with voice
evacuation system devices which are :

• Linear Heat Detection cable is a system used to detect fire in tunnels, cable trays,
tanks, cold storage, elevator shafts, generators and motors….etc.

• When the cable senses a heat over its entire length, it sends a detection signal to
the fire alarm control panel through a monitor module.

• System could be addressable with a distance locating module which will detect
the exact meter of the detected fire.

• System consists of :

▪ LHD cable : detects fire by sensing heat increase.

▪ Distance locating module : make the system addressable.
▪ Junction box : for connecting the LHD cable with the distance locating module.
▪ End of line resistor : to close the LHD cable circuit.
▪ Fixation accessories : like cable tie, L bracket, clamp.
▪ Monitor Module

museums, data centers, oil & gas and nuclear facilities).

• System consists of :
▪ ASD detector
▪ Aspiration pipes
▪ Air pump inside the detector
▪ Fire alarm panel

• System takes samples of air and tests them for the presence of smoke, air is drawn by a pump
from several holes in the pipes network, then air sample goes into the detector to be filtered
from dust then tested for smoke by laser light source.
• Sensitivity range : 0.00029 – 6.25% Obs/ft
• Coverage area : 2,500 m2, single pipe run 120 m, total pipe network 320 m.
• There are 3 factories which are manufacturing Aspirator detector (VESDA, System Sensor
and Wheel lock).
Smoke Detection Camera
• Smoke detection camera is used to detect :
▪ Smoke
▪ Flame
▪ Reflected flame

▪ Includes hard drives for recording
▪ Enables smart functionality and video analytics.
▪ Flexible that not necessarily cameras to be connected physically to NVR, only to be on the same network.
• Network Video Recorders come in 4, 8, 16, 24, 32, 64 and 128 channels.
• 2) Cameras :
• IP cameras have the following features :
• IP cameras are available with resolution (1,2,3,4,5,8 MP)
• IP cameras have a chipset which is processing the video data in the camera itself not the NVR and transmit it to
the NVR, it could work as a standalone image capturing device.
• IP cameras have good video quality and better resolution by transmitted digital signal.
• IP cameras also enables improved smart functionality and video analytics, such as facial recognition.
• IP cameras have 1 cable : Ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors which transmit video, audio and power to
cameras, Ethernet cables are easier in installation for routing and termination, no need for connection between
NVR and cameras only to be on the same network, max. 90 m length but could be extended with switches.
CCTV System
CCTV System Design
• Required design vary upon project volume and identity, client should determine required security level.
• We put a camera every 20 m as a min. coverage for all cameras, or you could put it for longer distances upon
camera type like outdoor varifocal cameras and long IR distances cameras.
• First camera must be covered with additional camera for the dead zone behind it.
• Cameras are fixed on the wall, on a stand or on the building itself, cameras should be in a convenient height (3-4m)
• Outdoor cameras don’t require high resolution (1 or 2 MP) are enough, while indoor camera require high resolution
(2 or 4 MP) are good for reviewing people faces details.
• Outdoor cameras should be weatherproof and should be vari-focal to zoom in and out for near or far objects, while
indoor cameras no need to be vari-focal they should be fixed, except if there are long corridors and you may zoom
for near or far people.
• Indoor cameras to be fixed in the corner of the room.
• Cameras installed inside rooms should have small focal lens like (2.8 – 3.6 mm), while corridors could have large
focal lens like (8 – 12 mm).
• Any doors or staircases or elevators must have a facing camera to monitor entering and exiting people.
• PTZ cameras are used for tracking not monitoring and installed at higher locations to make good coverage.

• Smart Search feature : to search specifically for (person, vehicle or object), its movement (moving, stopped,
crossing line), its colour, its size, on a specific camera and at a specific time.
CCTV Video Analytics
Video Analytics features :
• Business Intelligence : used in retails shops, traffic as an example for people counting to define rush hours for
retail management, and detect crowding areas to assist business owners to know people interest, or for cars
counting to determine rush hours by high traffic roads and route them to other directions.
Video Management System
VMS system components
• Application server :
▪ Contains the Video Management software.
▪ We should have one server as a main and another one as redundant for the main server, it takes back up
every 20 minutes.
▪ If main server fails we could switch manually the redundant server to be a main server, in this times live
viewing and recording will be working normally, only configuration will not be allowed.

• Recording Server :
▪ Contains HDDs, server could contains 8,16,24 HDDs with 16 TB max. for each.
▪ One recording server could have 100 cameras.
▪ Client should determine how many fail over servers are required as a back up for recording servers, we
should have one fail over server min.
▪ There are 2 different types of storing back up data called RAID, they are :
o RAID-6 : makes 3 HDDs from the 8 HDDs are back up for the 5 HDDs and this type called (Hot swap).
o RAID-5 : makes 2 HDDs from the 8 HDDs are back up for the 6 HDDs.
o If any HDDs fails, its data is not getting loss from the server.
o Configuration differs between brands, you have to check with your vendor.

Total 1303.41 412408.4
• Standard parameters for recording is 2 MP resolution, H.264 compression, 25 FPS, 30 days continuous recording.
• Total required TBs is multiplied by 1.1 risk factor then divided by number of recording servers, to know how many
TBs is required for configuration for each recording server.
• Example: if we have 523 cameras, we will have 6 recording servers, we need 412 TBs for recording * 1.1 risk
factor = 453 TBs / 6 servers = 76 TB per server, so each recording server will be configured as 80 TB RAID6.
• Estimation for site surveys 2 MP camera requires 40 - 70 G recording per day, and requires 6.5 Mbps bandwidth,
NVR bandwidth must cover required bandwidth of cameras.
• To decrease storage size choose recording with motion only, make FPS 15 but could have delay in video, decrease
recording resolution while live view will stay with the same resolution, number of recording days.
Video Management System
• Licenses for cameras and server :
▪ License purchased for cameras and server to be activated on VMS, could have upgrade license for
automatic future updates.

• Monitoring station :
▪ Monitoring workstation to view cameras by security.
▪ Could come with 2 or 4 monitors outputs.
▪ Monitors could be a workstation display or TV display or video wall.
▪ Could come with keypad for multi-screen controls, quick playback, playback speed and
controls PTZ cameras.
▪ We should have a console consists of desk, displays with their wall mount, keyboard, server, tel.

Controllers Connection
• Controllers are connected together by serial RS485 or bus TCP/IP network on switches.
• Bus connection is better than serial as in serial of there is a circuit break in the connection all zone will be
down, while in Bus each controller is connected to a switch direct, also in serial connection you could have
interference or delay in signal between controllers.
• In Serial connection controllers are connected in series and at the end we put RS485-USB converter to be
connected to the server, and could have 32 controllers max.
• Serial connection could be used as a back up for Bus connection if LAN network was down.

Anti Pass-Back feature

• Readers have a feature called (Anti Pass-back) which is used for preventing persons from entering with the
same ID card, its scenario is when a person access the entry reader with his ID card, this ID card couldn’t
be used with the entry reader till this card access the exit reader, after that it could be used in the entry
reader again, but this feature must have reader for entry and reader for exit, can’t work with entry reader
only with request to exit.
• And this is feature could be (Timed Anti Pass-back) for preventing the same ID card from accessing the
entry reader for a period of time then he got access.
• Also there is a feature called (Regional Anti Pass-back) which is person can’t access readers inside the
building before accessing the outside readers for entering the building.
• Finally (Nested Anti Pass-back) is used for a specific sequence for entry and exit of readers for highly
secured areas.
• Denying this feature causes (Hard Anti Pass-back) which will deny the access for this user, or could have
(Soft Anti Pass-back) which will permit access, but this violation will be reported on the software for taking
corrective action with this person.
Access Control System
Door Hardware
3) Locks :
• Electric Lock (Strike) : for wooden doors, to install the lock flushed inside the door with its cable.

Speakers Design
• Distance between speakers is = 2 x (ceiling height – listener height), if person is standing listener height
will be 1.5 m, if person is sitting listener height will be 1 m.
Example : 2 x (3 m height – 1.5 m person ear height) = 3 m between speakers

• Regarding wall mount speakers design, it varies but we calculate it by the decay signal
equation : 20 log (distance), as an average estimation : speaker could cover 10 m in depth.
Public Address System
Speakers Design
• For redundancy we should use 2 crossing lines for 1 zone in case of any line damage
Public Address System
Speakers Design
• In our system design we make audio zones, as an example in a hotel we could have one zone to play
background music in reception and corridors, and other zone for rooms not used, but in case of alarm
both zones will have alert message.
Public Address System
Fire Voice Evacuation Scenario
• In case of fire, music and audio inputs stop, then fire floor and floor above & below should have
evacuation message, while other floors will have alert message, then after 3 minutes delay all floors
should have evacuation message.

Fire Fighting System
Fire Fighting System
• Fire fighting of fire extinguishing system is similar to fire alarm system but it is used to extinguish fire.

• System has different types :

1) Manual system : for civil defense requirements
• Fire Hose reels connected to fire water tank, valves
• Extinguishers (dry power, foam, carbon dioxide, wet chemical
and fire search for electricity panels)
• Sand buckets, fire blanket

2) Clean Agent system : used for specific rooms detection where water can’t be used as it will damage
machines or devices like generator, server, data center, IT rooms, system reference code is NFPA-2001
• FM200 system : not toxic and clean gas, safe for humans and servers, used in rooms have people
inside or servers, gas name in code is HFC-227ea, its concentration ratio is (7 - 7.6) %.
• CO2 system : toxic gas, used in rooms clear from humans and servers like generator rooms.
There are other used gases with other applications like : NOVEC, AEROSOL, HALOGEN.

3) Sprinklers system : used in large areas which could require huge capacity of gas like :
factories, warehouses, storage, garages.

Fire Fighting System

Clean Agent System

Fire Fighting System
Clean Agent System
1) Control Panel : receives detection signals from detectors and send output signal to bell,
solenoid and horn/strobe.

2) Smoke & Heat Detectors : detect fire and send signal to control panel.

3) Gas Cylinder : contains FM200 or CO2 gas, connected with pipes, gas released within 10 sec.
cylinder capacity = protected volume x flooding factor x altitude factor (use vendor calculator)

4) Nozzles : connected at the end of pipes to spread gas in the area.

5) Pipes : connect between gas cylinder and nozzles.

6) Solenoid valve : explodes when receives signal from control panel to spread gas in pipes.

7) Bell & Horn / Strobe : makes an alarm in case of fire detection.

8) Manual release : to activate fire fighting system manually.

9) Abort switch : when we have a false alarm and cancel gas discharge.
Fire Fighting System

System Design
• Fire fighting system is designed for rooms detection like (generator rooms, data center,..etc) not for the whole
building like fire alarm system, as cylinders are expensive.

• Must have detection from 2 detectors on 2 zones.

• Zones must be crossed in case of any zone break.

• Detection Area is like fire alarm system but divided by 4.

• Double knock scenario :

▪ When 1st detector on 1st zone detects fire, bell activated and shut down HVAC.
▪ When 2nd detector on the other zone detects fire, siren/strobe activated and start counting down for releasing gas.

• Detection Scenario Video:

Fire Fighting System

Sprinklers System

• Sprinklers come in different shapes which are below :

• Detection Scenario :
[Link]
Fire Fighting System
Sprinklers System
• Sprinkler system have 4 different types :
1) Wet Pipe system : The most common type of sprinkler system, pipes are filled with water with
sprinklers, not all the sprinklers are activated at once, only the one who detected fire, this reduce
damage in the event of a false alarm.

2) Dry Pipe system : same wet pipe system except that pipes are pressurized by air or nitrogen not
water, water is hold by a valve until the system is activated. This system is used in cold applications
where wet pipe system could have pipes freezing.

3) Pre-Action system : is a dry pipe system but the water is hold by an electronically controlled valve
which is connected to a fire alarm system. Only after fire alarm system is activated water will enter
pipes and each sprinkler is activated individually. This system is great for applications where water
discharge could cause damage like data centers and libraries.

4) Deluge system : is designed for high-hazard areas, pipes are dry and unpressurized, sprinklers are
open, connection to a water source directly, and water is hold by a valve. When the system detects a
fire, water is pumped through pipes and discharged through all open sprinklers.

Master Clock System
Master Clock system

System Video Introduction

Master Clock system
• Master clock system is used to provide accurate timing for all the clocks in the building at one time with the
ability to adjust daylight savings time.
• Master clock system is necessary to be installed in applications in which timing is very important like airports, rail
way stations, underground metro, hospitals, schools, factories,…etc.

• System consists of :
▪ Master Clock : get timing and gives it to slave clocks
▪ Analog Clocks : comes in round or square shapes.
▪ Digital Clocks : comes in 4 digits or 6 digits (for showing date)
▪ World Clocks : which have different cities time zones, used in airports and hotels.
Clocks could come in single or double, double clocks are 2 single clocks with a ceiling or wall double mount.
Master Clock system
▪ Converter Box (for Wired system) : transmits data and power from master clock to wired clocks.
▪ POE Switch (for IP system) : transmits power through Ethernet cable and data from NTP servers to IP clocks.
▪ Accessories : like count down timer, buzzer, temperature sensor, covers, wire guards and double mount housing.

• Master Clock get timing from :

▪ NTP server through TCP/IP network (10 NTP servers around the world).
▪ Satellite through an antenna fixed on the roof.
Master Clock system

System Types
• Wired system

• IP system

• Wireless system
Master Clock system

Wired System

[Link]
Master Clock system
Wired System
• The 2-Wire System starts with the Master Clock sending time data to a Converter Box. The Converter
Box is powered locally at 110-240VAC and has two functions: it reduces the voltage to provide 24 volt
power to the secondary clocks, and it sends the time data every second over the same pair of electrical
wires.

• The same two electrical wires that are used to power the clock will also provide the time signal. The
clocks are connected in parallel so if one clock fails, all other clocks in the system will not be affected
and will function normally.

• System is simple to install, both analog and digital clocks may be installed on the same run, no limit for
number of Converter Boxes that can be added to the system, so system can serve anything from a
small facility with 20 clocks to mega projects with 5,000 clocks or more.
Master Clock system
Wired System
• One converter box can power many secondary clocks, this will be determined by the type and size of
the clock – analog or digital, thickness of the electrical wire used for installation and the distance
between the converter box and the last clock in the run.
• All of the above mentioned variables will determine how many secondary clocks can be powered by
one converter box, we have a Converter Box Calculator to determine how many converter boxes will
be needed for the project.

IP System

[Link]
Master Clock system
IP System
• In IP system clocks are connected through POE switch with CAT5 cable which transmits data and
power to clocks.
• In IP system no need for Master clock, as clocks could be connected to NTP servers direct through
TCP/IP network.
• Clocks programming could be held by web interface for time zone and daylight saving time
programming, also you could receive a mail for any clock failure.
• By web interface you could monitor all clocks in the project status.
Master Clock system

Wireless System

[Link]
Master Clock system
Wireless System
• A Wireless Clock System starts with a master clock with a transmitter transmits the time data to the
secondary clocks in the system wirelessly, Wireless System works autonomously, which does not rely
on existing Wi-Fi or Bluetooth infrastructure; at the same time, it has no interference with other wireless
systems that might be in the facility.
• The Sapling Wireless System is offered in 2.4GHz frequency range (approved worldwide).
• The Sapling Master Clock may interface with existing wired clock systems, allowing the facility to
upgrade from their existing clock system and benefit from wireless system advantages.
• All slave clocks have built in repeater which repeats the signal coverage of the master clock and no
need for additional master clocks for coverage.
• For multiple buildings project, we could have a network repeater which receives signal from master
clock through LAN cable, and then makes coverage and send signal to the slave clocks in its area,
also it could be connected to master clock wirelessly.
Master Clock system
Integration
• Master clock system could have integration with other systems like :

▪ Lighting

▪ HVAC

▪ Bells

Data system
Data System Types
• Active : devices which need power.
• Passive : devices which doesn’t need power.

Active System Components

• Switches : used for connecting devices to TCP/IP network, used when we require to run the data cable
more than 90m, could come with Power Over Ethernet feature (POE) for connecting (IP Telephones, IP
Cameras and Access points), switches come with (4,8,16,24,32,48) ports, and there are copper, fiber
and hybrid switches with copper ports and fiber port for connection with core switch, switches have
different types like :
▪ Edge Switch : economic switch comes with 4 or 8 ports, home routers come with built-in Edge switches.
▪ Modular Switch : enclosure switch connects modular switch cards for the required ports like 8 ports.
▪ Managed Switch : used for configurations of several VLANs on the same switch for separation between
devices like (VLAN-1 for cameras and VLAN2 for IP Telephones), also to configure each port bandwidth.
▪ Industrial Switch : weatherproof switch used in factories or outdoors which resists mechanical damage.
▪ Core Switch : Main switch which combines all switches and devices, comes with advanced features like
processor, RAMs, fans, takes more than 1U, and client IT specifies its specifications.
Data system
• Router : gateway for routing internal data to WAN network, it doesn’t have WIFI as
it is different than home routers which are combo having (Router, Access point and
a Switch) in the same device.

• Access Point : provides WIFI to facility and connected to the router by a data cable
as a standalone, takes power from a POE switch or with a 12v adaptor, installed
ceiling mounted, its coverage is 100 m2 or a circle with 8.5 m radius.

• Controller : let all access points in building as one network.

• Server : used for data storage or applications, specified by IT department of client,

could be a tower or rack mounted, different than standard PCs and workstations.
PC is used for personal use with standard specifications, but work stations come
with advanced specifications like working 24/7, better processor, better RAM,
additional outputs for additional monitors.

• Firewall : hardware advanced security for data network, used in banks and facilities
which need high security data, and also gives access for users for applications.

Passive system Components

• Patch Panel : 1U 24 RJ45 port copper patch panel, connect between data wall
outlets and switches, its function is to maintain switch ports from damage.

• Patch Cords : 0.5/1/2/3/5 m RJ45 pre-connected data cable, to connect

switches to patch panel, or devices to data outlets.

• Data Outlets : consists of RJ45 socket, frame for 1 or 2 modules and faceplate.

• Data Cables : Ethernet copper (CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, Cat7) or Fiber optics
cable (SM/MM) which transfer data by light impulses for large bandwidth and
long distance.

• Connectors : RJ45 connectors to be fixed to cables.

• Data Rack : contains all system devices, racks could be wall mounted or free
stand, have different dimensions.

Data system
Data Cable Types
• Data Cable could come in :
▪ UTP : Unshielded Twisted Pair
▪ STP : Shielded Twisted Pair
▪ S/FTP : Shielded Foil Twisted Pair
• Max distance is 90 m
• After connecting cables to outlets, we should make a fluke test by a tester to test cables length, colors
arrangement, losses, if all are good we will have a pass report.
Data system
Fiber Optic Passive Components
• Fiber optic Cables : in fiber optic cable data transfers by light impulses for
fast speed in data transfer, large bandwidth, large data (1-100 GB) and
long distances (1-100 KM) without interference, there are 2 types Single-
Mode and Multi-Mode, cables consists of cladding with 125 µm and core
from (9 – 50) µm (for reference : a human hair is closer to 100 µm), cable
could have several cores for larger data and bandwidth like in Telecom.
• Fiber optic Connectors : for connecting the fiber optic cables like the
RJ45 connector in Ethernet cables.

Data system
Fiber Optic Passive Components
• Fiber optic Patch Cords : for connections between devices inside the rack.

• Fiber optic Switches : differs than the copper switches that have SFP modules
for connecting fiber optic cables, switches could have copper and fiber.

• Fiber optic SFP Module : there are different modules (SX, LX, ZX, EX), we
choose SFP module according to our requirements of speed, bandwidth and
cable type, majority SFP speed is 1 Gb, but SFP+ could reach 10-25 Gb.

• Fiber optic Patch Panel : interface between devices and switches.

Data system
Racks
Consists of :
• Rack Cabinet, dimensions (width and depth) are specified according to the dimensions
of the devices installed inside it, and height function of (RU) Rack Units (RU = 4.4 cm)
according to number of devices installed inside the rack, each device could take 1U or 2U
according to its height, we keep 1U separation between each 2 devices for ventilation.
• Cooling unit with required number of fans and thermostat according to the devices
installed inside the rack heat consumption calculations.
• 1U Cable management panel with required number of cables rings.
• 1U power distribution unit (PDU) with required number of power sockets.
• Rack shelves with number of the devices which are not rack-mounted and will be
installed on a shelf.
