SAP FICO stands for FI (Financial Accounting) and CO (controlling). In SAP FICO,
SAP FI take cares about accounting, preparation of financial statements, tax
computations etc., while SAP CO take cares of inter orders, cost sheet,
inventory sheet, cost allocations etc. It is the software that stores data, and
also computes them and retrieves the result based on the current marketing
scenario. SAP FICO prevents data lost and also does the verification and
reporting of data.

A company is an organizational unit in accounting which represents a business
organization according to the requirements of commercial law in a particular
country. For which individual financial statements are created according to the
relevant legal requirements. A company can include one or more company
codes.

Company code is one of the organizational unit and legal entity which is formed
as per local law where we generate financial statements individually.

It is an organizational unit within accounting that can be classified as
geographical wise or product wise as per the requirements of an organization.
Under business area, you generate financial statements of balance sheet and
profit & loss account for internal reporting. Business area is optional setting in
SAP. Example, Product lines, branches.

The Functional Area is Required to create a profit & lose accounts in Financial

Segment is also one of the organizational elements it can be a geographical area.
It is new GL concept. In GL Accounting, segments are used as a dimension for
reporting purposes.

Where profit will be generated, we called it as profit center. Profit center can be
product or area and it one of the nodes in org structure.
Profit Center: Profit center is an organizational unit used for internal controlling
purposes. Profit center accounting at profit center level is based on costs and
revenues. Every profit center is assigned to the controlling area organizational
unit. Profit center can be assigned in cost center master data.

It is 2-digit Alfa numeric key it contains posting periods. There are two types of
fiscal years are there 1 is year dependent and 2 is year independent.
1-year dependent fiscal year is which varies the starting and ending date to
year to year is called year dependent. It is called “Non-Calendar Year”. E.g,
Apr-March. V3 (Standard Non-Calendar year in SAP).
2 years independent which does not vary the starting and ending date to
each fiscal year is called year independent. It is called “Calendar Year”. E.g,
Jan-Dec. K4 (Standard Calendar year in SAP).

Short end fiscal year nothing which fiscal year does not have 12 normal posting
periods is called it short end fiscal year. It must be year dependent.

Yes, we can assign more than one company code.
[Link] are special periods use?
Special periods are part of last fiscal year. Usage of special periods purely
optional. The Special periods in a fiscal year can be used for things like posting
audit or tax adjustments to a closed fiscal year.
[Link] is Posting Period Variant?
The Posting period variant Specifies which Periods Allow to post the Financial
Transactions and which posting Period are open & closed for financial
transactions posted. Posting period can be controlled by Account Type wise.
Posting period variant is contains Two period Ranges 1st one Control the Normal
Posting Periods (12) and 2nd one is Control the Special Posting Periods (4).

Yes. It is possible to keep open the FI posting period only for certain GL codes.
How do you keep the FI posting period open only for certain GL codes? In
transaction code OB52 click on new entries and maintain an interval or a single GL
code for the account type S with the posting period variant. If the GL codes are
not in sequence, then you need to maintain further entries for the posting period
variant and account type S.

Posting periods are months where we post all our day-to-day business
transactions.

It is 4-digit Alfa numeric key it contains the field status groups. It is a group
configured in FSV (Field Status Variant) to maintain field status for G/L (General
Ledger) accounts. It controls which field should suppress, display, optional and
required.

Yes, we can assign one FSV to more than one company code.

Field status group controls the field status of document line item. We assign this
group in GL master so at the time of posting we give GL account based on this link
