Restructuring Task

Instruction:
Read the paragraphs below carefully. Your task is to restructure them using a variety of sentence
types. Rewrite them to include compound sentences, complex sentences, and fronted
adverbials. Make sure the ideas still flow logically and clearly.

Paragraph 1:
Many students enjoy reading stories. They often prefer adventure tales that take them to exciting
places. Some learners choose mystery books, and they like solving the puzzles in the plot. A few
others enjoy biographies because they learn about the lives of important people. Reading helps
them to improve their vocabulary, and it also develops their imagination. In addition, books allow
readers to escape from their daily routines.

Paragraph 2:
Teachers encourage students to read every day. They believe reading builds confidence, and it
helps students to write better essays. However, not all students enjoy reading. Some say they find
books boring, and others spend more time on television or games. In some cases, students
complain that they cannot find books that match their interests, so they quickly lose motivation.
Others argue that reading takes too much time compared to faster forms of entertainment such as
movies or social media. Despite these challenges, schools continue to promote reading by
organising library hours, recommending age-appropriate novels, and rewarding those who develop
consistent reading habits. Over time, these efforts can encourage reluctant readers to discover the
joy of books and see the benefits of reading for their academic success and personal growth.
