Module I Water Technology 9
Characteristics – Alkalinity – types of alkalinity and determination – Hardness – types and estimation by EDTA method-
Internal conditioning (phosphate, calgon and carbonate conditioning methods) – External conditioning – demineralization
process – desalination and reverse osmosis – Water contaminant monitoring through Isotope techniques – Smart water
technology for efficient water management.

Module II Engineering Poymers 9
Polymer – Introduction – classification (based on molecular weight, structure and usage) – types of polymerization
(Addition, Condensation and Copolymerisation) – mechanism of polymerization (free radical addition polymerization)
– Fabrication and molding of polymers (Injection molding and blow molding) – Engineering plastics – PMMA, Epoxy
resins, polycarbonates (Preparation, properties and uses) – Industrial applications of polymers.
