How the PTE Test Works
PTE Academic is a computer-based English language test. It's conducted in a
single, two-hour session at a designated test center.

different question types. This variety ensures a comprehensive evaluation of your

Part 1: Speaking & Writing
Duration: 54-67 minutes

Part 2: Reading
Duration: 29-30 minutes
Content: 5 different question types
Integrated Skills: One item type ("Reading and Writing: Fill in the Blanks")
assesses both reading and writing skills.

Audio/Video Clips: Questions are based on automatically playing audio or video

Speaking: Personal Introduction
Purpose: This is an opportunity to introduce yourself to your selected institutions.
Scoring: This item is not scored.
Recording Process:
Countdown: The recording status box will display a countdown until the
microphone opens. You have 25 seconds to prepare.
Start Speaking: After the tone, begin speaking immediately. Avoid speaking
before the microphone opens as your voice won't be recorded.
Time Limit: You have 30 seconds to record your response. Finish speaking
before the progress bar reaches the end. The word "RECORDING" will change
to "COMPLETED".
Single Attempt: You can only record your answer once.
Sending to Institutions: Your response will be sent along with your score report to
the institutions you've selected.
Read Aloud
Basic Rules:
Read Aloud: This item requires you to read a written text aloud. There will be 6-7
questions.
Preparation Time: The recording status box will show a countdown until the
microphone opens. You have 30-40 seconds to prepare, depending on the passage
length.
Start Speaking: After a short tone, begin speaking immediately. Avoid speaking
before the microphone opens to ensure your voice is recorded.

Move Forward: Click "Next" immediately after you finish speaking.
