MACHINES

Introduction of Machines:
A machine is a physical system that uses power to apply forces
and control movement to perform an action. It helps us do
work applying less effort, speed up motion, apply force at a
convenient point, or reduce the risk in a hazardous task.

We use machines to make work easier by reducing the effort,

saving time, and accomplishing tasks faster and more efficiently
than humans can.
Charles Babbage invented machines in 1837. He is known as
father of computer, he designed the Analytical Engine, a
concept for the first mechanical general-purpose computer.

Charles Babbage KH FRS was an English polymath. A

mathematician, philosopher, inventor and mechanical
engineer, he originated the concept of a digital programmable
computer. He is considered by some to merit the title of "father
of the computer". He was born on 26 December 1791, London,
United Kingdom. He was died on 18 October 1871 (age
79 years), Marylebone, London, United Kingdom.
Types of machines:
Simple Machines:
A simple machine is an object used to help complete a task by
changing the direction of motion or the amount of required
force. Examples: screw, inclined plane, wedge, lever, wheel
axle, and pulley.

Complex Machines:
A complex machine, also known as a compound machine, is a
device formed by combining two or more simple machines to
perform a more difficult task than any single simple could
machine. Examples: bicycle, car, wheelbarrow, can opener,
stapler, scissors, escalator, crane and washing machine.

Advantages of Machines:
1. Increased speed
2. Accuracy
3. Consistency
4. The ability to perform dangerous or demanding tasks
5. Leading to higher production and lower costs

Disadvantages of Machines:
1. High initial and maintenance costs
2. The potential for job displacement and unemployment
3. A reduction in the need for human skill
4. Loss of Human Skills
5. Environmental Impact

Conclusion of Machines:
Simple machines are the foundational building blocks of
complex systems, providing mechanical advantage to make
work easier by changing the direction or magnitude of a
force. They are fundamental in technology and daily life, found
in everything from tools to modern device.
